'Im free, please. Please let me go'
Was all Ratchet had said as he fell offline being cradled in Optimus' protective arms. The arms that carried him through battle now carried his limo frame back to base.
'Please...please dont leave me again...'
Is all Optimus said we he revived Ratchet
He was changed
He was a shell of a mech
He was an empty, emotionless husk
Yet Optimus still loved him
Still adored him
Still cradled him in his massive arms when he was scared
Still treated him like a mech
He wasnt a mech anymore, he was a shell.
'Why do you keep me?'
Ratchet asked, the first time he spoke since the revival
'Because, i broke when you died. I died with you. I died and was stuck here, i wanted to..'
Was all the answer he got.
'Wanted to offline yourself?'
He ventured, feeling a faint sliver of hope
Optimus nodded
'You can join my in the all spark then'
Ratchet said hopefully
Optimus shook his helm slightly
'No...I'm letting you go...'
He said softly
Ratchet was shocked and lowered his audials
'But I don't want wnat to leave you again?...'
He trailed off, unsure of what to say. His spark ached at the thought of leaving Optimus, but he also knew he couldn't stay like this forever.
Optimus stroked Ratchet's helm gently, his optics filled with a sorrowful understanding.
'I know, my dear friend,'
he said softly.
'But you deserve to be free. To live your life without the weight of my grief holding you back.'
Ratchet looked up at Optimus, seeing the pain in his optics. He knew it wasn't easy for him to let go, but he also knew it was the right thing to do.
"Thank you, Optimus,"
Ratchet said, his voice barely above a whisper.
"For everything."
Optimus nodded, his arms still cradling Ratchet's frame.
"I will always love you, my friend,"
he said.

"And I will always carry you in my spark."
With a final embrace, Optimus gently set Ratchet down and watched as his friend's frame disappeared into the allspark, his spark finally free.
