We reach Ryevost by dawn. "The team should be here but, so are they." I say as I look through the alley and see the General with Ivan, David, Zoya and two guards. The town people look worried. I whistle a certain tune. A crow comes and sit on the ledge in front of us. "Lead him to Alina." I say. The crow caws before flapping his wings. "Follow him." "Are you out of your mind?" Mal asks clearly worried. "No. If you haveheard my stories clearly I happen to be an animal whisperer so I think you best chance at protecting Alina is following Juli." "Juli?" "Yes. Animals have names too. Now get. I will distract our enemies. You get a head start with Alina if you can." I say urging him to go. "Goose. Follow him." I tell the grey beauty. He neighs before following them.
I turn around and see the guards trying to find the crows. I turn around and walk into the forest. I whistle out the same tune and more crows come forward. "Protect the crows." I say. They all fly away. I pull out my sword. I put my gloves on tighter. I breathe in and then breathe out as I walk back in town. As I am walking down an alley I am pulled in. I hold my sword to person's throat and see that it's Jesper. I lower my sword and see the rest of the Crows. "I found the friend and sent him to find Alina. Knowing you set her lose." "Yes. Now that the Darkling is here. We had to loose the heavy baggage." Kaz said.
"I'll take care of him. All of you take can take his carriage." I say. Kaz comes up with a better and intricate plan and we walk out of the alley when a guard approaches us. I smile before I punch him in the throat and hold him in a headlock and knock him out. The crows lift and eyebrow at me. "I learnt all this from you. Why do you look surprised?" I ask. They nod their head in agreement and we all disperse into different directions. I stand in front of the bar that Ivan, Zoya, Kirigan and some Inferni are standing in front of. I whistle sharply and their heads turn in my directon. "Miss me?" I ask. Their eyes widen a little. "I was never a good person. I mean I was but, I had my mission inside the palace." I say with a smirk. Ivan tries to slow my heartrate down. I keep it steady.
"Catch me?" I say with a grin as I start running. Soon enough I see Zoya and the Inferni run after me and the second guard. I look up at the roof and jump the barrels that Nina had placed for me to easily climb. I climb on the roof and start running I jump down into the next alley. Wylan had knocked out Zoya and the Inferni with a smoke bomb that puts you to sleep. Ivan had fought Matthias and Nina and she put him right to sleep. "One to go." Kaz says walking beside me. "Actually two. David the Durast is in the carriage. So when you knock him out don't break his skull he actually helped me with this ring disguise." "I'll do my best." He says and we come face to face with the Darkling.

"I know you kidnapped my sun summoner. Now you're going to tell me where you stashed her." He asked as he glared at us. "Didn't take her." Kaz answered as he stood in front me acting as a shield. He glanced at me and I looked at him with a questioning gaze. He ignored it and looked back at Kirigan, "She fled on her own." "Where is she?" he asked, "I won't ask you again." I pull out my sword and Kaz puts it down. "You try to attack me and I will kill you." "Spare her." Kaz says and I look at him shocked. "She.. We don't know where your sun summoner is." Kaz answers him, "But, it was pretty clear she wasn't interested in being a captive anymore. She's half way on her way to Novyi Zem by now." Kaz tells him. "You should leave." I tell him as Kirigan's shadows begin to come out. Kaz holds my jacket and turns to me. "Hit him with your light when the time is right." He whispers. I look at him and nod my head. I see him pull out one of Wylan's bombs. I put my hands behind my back and let the power flow through me. "Aim at him. I will make it bounce and hit him." I whisper so that Kaz can hear me. He nods his head and walks back. We walk back at Kirigan's eyes turn dark and cold with anger. "Should've stayed in Ketterdam Mr. Brekker." Kirigan says as he makes the cut with his hands. My eyes widen. I change the light from a ball to a dagger behind my back. Kaz picks up his cane and throws the bomb, I pull out the light daggers that turn into small swords that hit the shadow weapon and there is burst of light for a few moments. I pull Kaz and we run down the alley to the carriage. "Go protect the saint." Kaz says. I nod my head.
