I open my eyes and see the light. I see the golden ceiling. I frown. I sit up but groan in pain. "You should sit back down." I heard Genya say. I look up at her. "What happened?" I ask as I lay back down. "They found you." "Who?" I ask. "The Fjerdans." She says. "What about..." "Alina and Mal escaped. The Fjerdan was taken captive." I frown. "Everyone knows you are alive." Genya said with a pained look. I closed my eyes and I tried to control my breath. "You got a letter though." Genya says handing me a black envelope. I open it and the crow symbol on the seal. I smile as I open it.

Dear Princess,

As promised Alina and Mal have been taken from Ravka and ensured they are safe. Alina and Mal are on their way to Novyi Zem. They are fighters, they still believe they can help Ravka. They want to find the Sea Whip. The crows are safe but, we do have Pekka Rollins to deal with. He is out of jail and when we were gone he took over all the businesses. We can take him down. We just hope that you are safe and getting better.

You helped make the fold smaller. The whole world is talking about how the scar on the map has been reduced and that Ravka has hope to win the war. I know Inej prays for your fast recovery. I hope that you survive to ensure that our finder's fee is paid to us.

Yours Sincerely,

Kaz Brekker

I smile as I read the letter. "Did the fold really become smaller?" I ask. "Yes. You were able to do it." Genya said it. I smiled and closed my eyes feeling relief. I fall back asleep.

I wake up and feel much stronger. I get up without groaning. I wince slightly. I see a note on the bedside a kefta. "Wear this. The royal family wants to see you for dinner." I sigh as I get up and decide that I don't want to wear the kefta. I look through the closet and find an old white lace dress. I smile as I wear it. I let my hair flow down my back and I look on the dresser to find the beautiful engagement ring. I put it on and look in the mirror. I look like me. I smile and walk out. I pass by the guards and the staff in the halls and see them stare at me. I walk down the stairs and towards the dinner hall.

They announce my name and the double doors open

They announce my name and the double doors open. I see the king at the front and head of the table. On one side Vasily sits and the queen sits. I finally look into his dark eyes. They have no emotion. But, I hold my head high as I walk in and take my seat in front of him next to Vasily. I pay no attention to others as I continue to look at him. He holds my gaze and then looks away. I look in corner to see Genya look at me sadly. I turn my eyes back to front and look at the dish put in front of me. The dinner is silent. No one talks. As soon dinner finishes Vasily speaks up, "You lied to us." I look at them for the first time after I entered. "How so?" I asked. "You were alive and didn't notify us." The king spoke. "I was saving Ravka by not revealing that I am alive. Your enemies want to see Ravka fall and it did suffer when I was not there. Did it not? You needed the General to reconnect all your allies and give them the confidence that Ravka was not suffering." I say. "We weren't." Vasily says. "Really? When are you going to accept the fact the fold tore Ravka apart all those years because you couldn't stand the fact that the Grisha were more powerful than you." "If you pride yourself on being a grisha you should wear your kefta." Vasily sneered and the king smirked. "I will. But, I'll help everyone better if I dress my part as the Princess of Gondor. Your most powerful ally." I say. "Our most powerful ally?" The king asks chuckling. I look at them furrowing my eyebrows. "Gondor is a ghost country." I look towards Kirigan and he looks at the king and looks down. "You were gone five years and didn't bother to ask your friends what happened to Gondor?" The king asks. "What?" I ask now worried. "Gondor was taken over by Fjerdan's." "That's not true." I say. "It is." Vasily confirms. I look towards Kirigan and he looks down not meeting my eyes. I look at Genya and she nods her head and looks down. "The only problem for Fjerdan's was that they couldn't find your brother. Your parents are held captive after they surrendered and the fact that Gondor turned into a city of poison. Nothing lasted there. Fjerdan's own it but it's become a wasteland. Nothing grows or survives there anymore." I could feel the tears gather in my eyes.
