Chapter 02: Ultron

Two years after the Battle of New York, SHIELD was revealed to be gangrenous from within by HYDRA, and was declared a terrorist organization.

To compensate for SHIELD's absence as a peacekeeping organization, the Avengers were reformed and developed as an independent team, operating out of the renovated Stark Tower as the Avengers Tower.

Now, reunited once again, the Avengers worked together to eliminate the organization that has been bent on world domination since its inception... HYDRA.

Inside the Avengers tower, Hayden stepped out of the TARDIS that had just materialized in the large office. He saw the sun setting through the large window that enveloped the room.

He must have arrived early, since the only people in the office were Tony and Steve. They looked at the Avengers team member and greeted him.

"Hi, Hayden. Glad you could make it. Do you want anything?" Tony asked, as he began to pour himself a drink on the table.

"No thanks Tony." He replied as he sat down at the table. "I must be early. Where is everyone else?"

"Romanoff is here. I already called the rest of the team to get them on their way." Replied Steve.

Tony looked at Steve as he took a sip of his drink.

"Are you sure you don't want any?" He asked.

"No, I told you earlier." Said Steve.

"Come on, did you know that the Prohibition era is over, Captain." Joked Tony.

"Yeah. I know." sighed Steve.

Hayden listened to their exchange. Tony chuckled, since he always liked to make jokes about Steve's age. Rogers was only a teenager at the time.

Natasha arrived shortly after, walking past the Timelord.

"Hayden. Good to see you." She greeted.

"Romanoff." Hayden greeted.

She walked over to a chair and sat in it, resting her legs on the table. Which Tony noticed.

"Remember when you were my assistant those years? Is there still a part of it somewhere?" Tony asked.

"Do you remember what an asshole you were a few years ago?" Asked Natasha with a smile. "Oh wait, you still are."

Tony laughed and looked at Hayden, pointing at Natasha. "See, my aura rubs off on her."

"It's just that she has a good repartee, Tony." Answered Hayden.

Soon after, the rest of the team arrived. This included Bruce, Clint and Thor. They all greeted each other as Tony began to project a hologram onto the center of the table.

It was an interactive, overheard shot of a HYDRA facility. Next to the image were also two other images, one of Wolfgang von Strucker and Loki's scepter.

"Agent Hill filled us in on Strucker and his location. It is a research facility in Sokovia, where he is also doing his experiments." Steve explained.

"Experiments?" Bruce asked.

"It looks like they're experimenting with the scepter. Who knows what they're trying to do?"

Thor's booming voice caught the team's attention.

"We're going to take it from them before we can find out, then take it back to Asgard where it belongs." He said.

Hayden looked at the image of the scepter in the hologram. That one weapon wielded by Loki nearly destroyed New York. They had to keep it away from HYDRA.
