dad meets josh

it was sunday now and josh and i were allowed to go home. i was glad to leave the hospital and be in the comfort of my home. the doctors wanted me to stay one more night due to how exhausted i was, they just wanted to make sure i was okay and i was.

patrick decided to take off practice next week though he had a game tonight. i could tell he was stressing about leaving me home with joshua for the first time but i knew i'd be fine. my dad and gisele were coming up for the weekend since the bucs had a bye week meaning no game so they'd be with me.

i'm seated on the couch now, holding joshua in my arms as i feed him. my smile never leaves my face at the sight of my baby. he had the most beautiful skin, it was like patrick's and his eyes were stuck to mine.

it's like we already had a special connection.

"i really don't want to leave you," patrick's voice made me look up. he was dressed in some practice clothes, "i can talk to coach. he'll understand."

"pat," i softly spoke with a smile, "i'll be fine. my dad should be here any minute."

"i know but still," he sighed, taking a seat right next to me and looked down at joshua who was having a field day with his lunch, "i wanted to be here with you and josh."

"you will be later and we'll celebrate your win," i told him, grabbing a hold of his hand, "don't worry, i'll be fine."

"okay," patrick and i shared a loving kiss just as the door bell rang. i knew exactly who it was, "it's unlocked!" i shouted over the barking of the dogs.

"hey hey hey, what day is it today?!" my dad said, walking into the kitchen, "the day you meet your grandson," gisele rolled her eyes at his behavior before gasping, "aw look at him!"

patrick helped me to my feet and i smiled widely at the look on gisele's face when she saw josh. she walked over to us and grabbed him from my arms, "hi baby."

i placed down the now empty bottle, giving my dad a hug, "thanks for coming," i whispered to him, suddenly feeling really tired.

"of course," he smiled at me and i could tell he was struggling to hold back his tears.

"my favorite siblings!" i knelt down, hugging jack, vivan and ben all at once, "how are you guys?"

"good," vivan smiled, playing with some of my hair as she stayed in my arms.

"can i hold him? please! please?" jack asked with a smile, looking at his mom holding joshua.

dad looked at me then to jack, "maybe later on bud, i wanna hold him," his smile widened when gisele handed josh to him.

i stood back up, still holding vivan and leaned into patrick who wrapped an arm around me.

"hey bud," my dad whispered, getting teary eyed, but still kept his signature smile, "i'm your old pops. one day, i'll teach you how to be just like me and your dad," he glanced at patrick who smiled, "a football star."

seeing my father with my baby was really special.

later on, it was time for patrick to leave for his game. our boys against the broncos. gisele had helped me make some dinner and we were all eating now.

"off i go," patrick said as he walked into the kitchen, leaning down to kiss me, "if you need anything, call me, alright?"

i looked up at him and smiled, "i will."

"don't worry, pat," my dad said, gaining his attention, "i got her."

patrick smiled and gave my father a bro hug then gave my three siblings hugs too. he shared a kiss with gisele before leaning down to pick josh up who WAS sleeping in the pack and play now he wasn't.

"daddys goin to go play ball now, alright?" he said in a soft voice, making me smile at the moment they were sharing. josh was just staring deep in patrick's eyes, "i'll see you soon, buddy," he gave him a kiss on the cheek before laying him back down.

"bye guys," he waved to all of us as he headed out the door and left.

"make sure to put the game on at 6, dad," i told my father, beginning to clean up.

"of course."

my three siblings all sat on the couch, waiting for the game to start while my dad, gisele and i cleaned up.

"look julie, pats on!" jack yelled to me, pointing at the tv. i smiled widely at the sight of patrick passing the ball to travis who wore his beats. he looked so good on tv, i never realized this. well, i've never watched a game home so.

i felt left out not being there. i wonder how the girls were doing and what cheers they had prepared for tonight's game.

i finally finished up and now held joshua in my arms while watching the game that had just begun. vivian sat close to me, constantly looking at josh while my dad sat with gisele, ben was laid out on the couch, passed out, and jack sat right in front of the tv, yelling out everytime patrick did something.

last year around this time, i never thought i'd have a baby in my arms. that baby being patrick's. and that i'm also getting married in a few weeks.

shouts and yells was what i heard for practically the next half hour or so either from my father or jack. the way they were cheering patrick on was making me smile.

even though my dad was a buc, he still cheered for him and that made me happy.
