Ch. 30; -Obstacles-

Kazuha and Heizou continue on their way slowly, going under trees, investigating old camps that had rotting skeletons, and fightning hilichurls. They were a big problem here. The morning passed not too harsh, and they had the chance to pick up a lot of food from fruit trees and some coal and wood for campfires from the abandoned camps they had passed.

"Okay.. look see this dead tree? That means we are going the right way according to the map!" Heizou exclaims as he shows the other the map. Kazuha looks up to the grey tree. "But it also shows there are dendrobiums next to it. This one has.. blue fungus stuff." He mutters out. Looking back to the map to see Heizou actually pointed out the tree they had passed a very long time ago.

"Uh.. so.. this place.. we are closer to the ocean.. oh fuck." Kazuha internally slaps his forehead. "We can follow the road back. Come on." And they turn back, till they come to the main road it was already night and they had to set up a camp.

"And you say you are good at following maps.." Heizou turns his head back. "Oh come on it ain't my fault it's a confusing road!" Kazuha sighs and flips the lavender melons over to their other side so it cooks evenly. He thought what was it like at Liyue right now? This was the 2nd day of their journey, and they should be at the forest in 5 days. 3 if they are lucky.

He wondered about the other prince. What was he doing? Was he okay? The thoughts crawled to his mind before the voices came back the moment he thought of the raven "Okay I know I know he is fucking dangerous there is something I don't know alright!" He keeps muttering until he forgets about him.

They wake up to a harsh storm and thick fog, just what they needed. "Did you refill the gas lanterns?" Kazuha asked as Heizou was packing away the tent. "Hm.. I think I did. On the boat while I was having a lunch break." The albino nods and takes the 2 lanterns out and lights them. Once everything was packed they continued on their way, seemingly, it was going up. Not to the mountain, but near it.

"I'm starting to hate this Hayoku Forest." The detective chuckles, "Understandable. But I guarantee you, it's the most beautiful place you will ever see." As they were walking up the hill, Kazuha thinks of something. "The tale says that the body of the warrior is protected right? And the wing shard thing is the heart of the forest. What if the warrior wakes up?" Heizou stops for a moment. "Impossible." And continues walking.

Kazuha walks behind, head low, why would it be impossible? "The shard is like a heart to the warrior. They lost it. Now they can't wake up. We will have 3 choices. Send the shard to Celestial Kingdom, keep it, or give it back to the warrior." He continued.

There were 2 warriors. Why did the second one not come to save the 1st? They were strong, so naturally they would wake up sooner or later and try to find the fallen one. In any case, wasn't the body buried in the soil? Or would the soil be covered in something different that kept the body alive? If they took the shard wouldn't the forest die? Naturally actually killing the warrior? That's the least thing he wanted. But it was needed.

The fog started to clear up as they went higher by the path, the more hilichurls there were. They were getting tired, so they set up a camp on a place that looked like it was safe, and also a small break place type of thing, so it was basically straight instead of it being a path that goes upwards. They sit and watch the sunset as the fire crackled behind them.

"I want this to end already." The albino hangs his head low, the berry-head seemingly understanding. "The more you show weakness the easier the obstacles will get to you. Cheer up Kazu, you will be the first ever human to ever step foot there. I'll go behind you so that actually happens." He chuckled at his joke, Kazuha smiled a bit. Nodding.

"I'll sleep early. Don't fall off for me ay?" He nods again and was left alone.

The stars shined as if they wanted to let the albino feel at peace. But the island said no, covering the sky in fog. He stays up for a little while longer reading books, trying to pass the time. Once the fog clears up, it already being night, he takes his lantern and walks a little forward. Seeing a big cliff that they had to cross. On top of that a big hilichurl camp that had abyss mages.

"Well tomorrow is gonna be an amazing morning.."
