⚠️TW: Mention of miscarriage
Requested :)

Losing a child is never easy. Last year, you and
Mason, tried for a baby for the first time, and although things seemed to be going well at the start, the pregnancy ended far too early.

You had a miscarriage in the ninth week. It all happened so fast. You had woken up with bad cramps that morning; one moment you were trying to take deep breaths and calm down, the next moment you were sitting in a pile of blood, crying in Mason's arms.

You stayed at the hospital for days. You didn't care how you felt physically; mentally, you felt drained, like it all had been your fault and that you lost the baby because you weren't careful enough, even though you were.

You were ignorant and quiet the whole time; you wouldn't even talk to Mason, even though he was hurting just as much as you. You thought you would lose him too for the way you treated him and ignored him, but he didn't leave your side once, and you are forever thankful for that.

During the month after the miscarriage, you and Mason both tried to go back to your normal lifestyle, not focusing on getting kids. Both of you decided when the time was right, a baby would be on its way.
The miscarriage had caused a bit of a mess between the two of you, but you both were determined that nothing could break you apart, so you fought hard for your relationship.

Unexpectedly, two months later, you got pregnant again, for the second time. You're currently four months pregnant, and this time you knew everything was going to work out. You just had to stay positive.

The past four months, you've been extra careful with everything; even Mason has been very helpful and careful with you and around you. He would always come home right after training to spend time with you; he wouldn't go out with friends even though you told him it was ok.

You knew Mason was just as scared as you that something would happen again. There was always this thought running through your heads, but you couldn't sit and overthink it, it wasn't healthy for either of you.

You were currently sitting in bed, watching Mason pack his bags for international duty. He had been called up for England, but he didn't seem very excited like he had been in previous times. You could sense that he was feeling a bit tense and unsure.

In his mind, all sorts of bad thoughts were running through his head. He was absolutely terrified of leaving you here. It would be the first time he would leave you during your pregnancy, and the past was haunting him still.

"I can't," he shook his head as he dropped his clothes on the bed. He sighed as he rubbed his face.

"Can't what?" You asked him, confused.

"I can't leave you all alone here," he said, looking at you with worry in his eyes.

"Baby, I'm not going to be alone," you carefully stood up and waddled over to him and cupped his face.

"Y/N I hate to bring up the past and worry you, but I'm scared it's going to happen again; I don't want to leave you all alone," his voice became weak, and he was feeling very vulnerable.

You knew he had built up a wall. He only cried once after the miscarriage, not because he didn't feel any emotions; he just didn't want to let his feelings out. He wanted to be strong for you and be your comfort because, in his mind, you needed comfort more than him. You had let him know multiple times that it was ok to cry because he lost a baby too, not just you. But he would always act like he could deal with it—only until now. You noticed those walls were slowly falling, and now it was his turn to cry in your arms.

"Look at me, sweet," you caressed his cheeks, "you will only be away for a week. Lewis is going to be here and help, and your parents will visit too. Everything is going to be ok. You have nothing to worry about, my love," you assured him.

You saw his eyes redden and tears rolling down his cheeks; it made you worry about how scared he actually was. You had never seen him this sad before, and it absolutely broke you.

He buried his head in the crook of your neck and hugged you carefully around your waist. You wrapped your arms around his neck, gently brushing your fingers through his hair, comforting him as he was crying.

"I know this is scary, baby, but we're going to get through this. We always do," you felt a few tears escape your eyes too but you quickly wiped them away.

"We're the Mount's, aren't we?" You said the words that he would always remind you of. He softly chuckled, causing you to smile.

He slowly leaned back from the hug, allowing you to wipe his tears away. His hands were on your belly as he looked down. "You promise you'll update me every day?" He looked back at you.

"I promise to update you every day." You smiled and repeated his words. "Let's finish packing, yeah?"

He smiled and nodded before placing a loving kiss on your lips. "I love you, both of you," he said as he rubbed your belly.

"We love you too, so much." You looked at him with a smile.

A week had passed. As you promised Mason, you updated him every day on how you and the baby were doing. You could tell that some days he was doing better; he would still worry, but your comforting words would always help.

He was now on his way back, and he couldn't be more excited to have you in his arms and protect you and the baby on his own, not having to worry anymore.

You were excited too; you had missed Mason a lot, just being in his arms and having him comfort you if you were in a bad mood or in a bit of pain. You had even prepared his favorite food for dinner with the help of Lewis. You offered Lewis to stay for dinner, but he had other plans, so you let it pass.

Just as you served the plates, you heard the front door open. You quickly waddled over, seeing Mason take his shoes and jacket off, you opened your arms wide, ready to hug him.

"My beautiful girl, I missed you so much," he carefully picked you up and kissed you on the lips.

"I missed you so much, Mase," you smiled at him as he carefully placed you down.

"How is my other baby doing?" he smiled before kneeling down and placing a soft kiss on your belly. You still didn't know the gender, but that didn't matter; he or she was always going to be yours and Mason's little baby.

"Little baby here has missed you so much," you smiled as you looked down at him.

"Daddy has missed you more little one," he said, placing another kiss on your belly.

You smiled as he stood up again. "I have a little gift," he said excitedly as he grabbed his bag.

You watched him take out a plastic bag, and he allowed you to open the gift that was for the baby. You excitedly looked inside the plastic bag. "Aww, Mase, it's beautiful," you said as you picked up a fluffy teddy bear.

"I remember when you told me how your dad gave you a teddy bear when you were born and that you still have it with you everywhere. I thought we could carry on the tradition," he chuckled nervously as he scratched his neck, not knowing if you would find it ridiculous or cute.

You almost teared up at how he remembered the story you told him; you looked at him with nothing but love. "That's very thoughtful of you, Mase. I love it." You said before you pulled him in for a kiss.

You felt him smile against your lips; he was so happy to be home with you and the little baby in your belly. He felt like the weight on his shoulders had just been lifted.

"You feeling ok? Not in any pain or anything?" He asked as he placed his hands on your belly, gently stroking it.

"I feel better than ever," you assure him. "I made your favorite dish, by the way; get changed so we can eat together," you stroked his cheek.

He placed kiss on your lips one last time before heading upstairs to get changed. The rest of the night, you were in each other's embrace and nothing could ruin the moment.
