I just wanted to talk about Mason for a bit, he's been getting a lot of abuse and hate lately, not just because of his performances but also because of his contract issue.
His contract is running out next year and he's rejected a 7 year offer with 200k every week. Many people think he's rejected it because he wants more than 200k, and to me it's kind of understanding why he's rejected the 200k offer.
He's been Chelsea's golden boy for years now, he's the face of the club, always doing videos on YouTube for them, commercials and even more, he's always on the pitch playing and never gets a rest. He has helped the club get through so many finals and won so many games for them. He deserves to get the same amount of salary as the others. Right now he's earning less than Havertz, which is insane, considering Havertz hasn't played as much.
What is more concerning to me is that maybe he doesn't even want to stay anymore, because of the abuse and because maybe people don't appreciate him. Of course he's been out of performance lately but that doesn't make him a "shit" player. He loves Chelsea, and deep down I know money would never be the issue for him.
After yesterday's game, he's been dragged all over social media. People have made memes about how "shit" he is or that Gareth loves him more than anyone, and that Foden should always be picked before him.
I don't see the problem with criticism, constructive criticism is always allowed, but what is not allowed is abuse and hate.
It's so frustrating to see people, who have no idea about football, sit and comment pure hatred about a player. They all act like they know everything about football, like they've been on the pitch or had a degree of coaching. They have no right, criticising anyone because all they do is watch the game on a tv screen.
I've been at a game myself and watching the game live lets you see how hard these players work, a tv screen never shows the detailed stuff they do on the pitch.
I'm 100% sure Mason can see those comments, and deep down I know that it affects him. It affects anyone who's going though it. And it's frustrating that they're singling out him every game, they act like it's all his fault that they didn't win the game yesterday.
And to see big accounts on twitter, such as Sportsbible writing stuff like "Foden created as many chances and Mason Mount, Harry Kane and Saka yesterday" or whatever, it just brings more flame to the fire. They're basically encouraging people to argue and laugh about it. It's not ok.
What's even more upsetting is that tweet from Ross Barkley, saying that Foden is the game changer. I'm not saying Foden is not a game changer, he's so good at what he does, but the fact that Barkley tweeted that is just shocking. I assume it was targeted at Mason for not playing so well yesterday. How can you sit and tweet something like that? It's basically his way of saying that Mount shouldn't be on the pitch. How can you write something like that directed towards your old teammate who probably considers you as a friend.
Mason is strong and I'm sure he's doing the best he can to improve. To be completely honest, sometimes a part of me hopes he leaves Chelsea for a new challenge. Maybe go somewhere he's more appreciated, to prove that he is good enough. It would be the best thing ever seeing these so called "Chelsea fans" realise how wrong they are about him.
People just don't care about mental health anymore, it's as simple as that. I just hope he and the other boys are ok and keep their head up.
