Somehow during the whole crying incident, I finally made my way up to my bedroom. I fell asleep around four o'clock in the morning, well, that was the last time I saw the clock. I guess I literally cried myself to sleep. My phone had been ringing all morning. Most of the calls were from my mother and my sister. I didn't answer any of their calls. I really did not feel like talking to anyone, let alone discussing what had just happened the night before. About an hour later, my doorbell rang I didn't get up to answer it. I figured whoever it was would just go away.

About three minutes later, someone said, "Hey, sis, how are you doing?"

I turned around and saw my sister, Niecey, standing in the doorway. I didn't say anything I just turned back around, put my head back on my pillow, and stared at the wall.

"I know you don't want to talk right now. I just want you to know that Mommy, Daddy, and I know what happened, and we just want to let you know that we are here for you."

I closed my eyes, hoping that this whole thing would go away. "How did y'all find out?" I asked as I blew my nose and wiped the tears from my eyes.

"Lamar called to speak to Little L and explained everything to Mom. I know I don't have to tell you that she let him have a good tongue-lashing before she let him off the phone. Dad is upset. He wants to go and beat his ass. We had to block the door until he calmed down literally. He went off saying that he told you that you should not have married that sneaky no good son of a bitch. We tried calling you to let him know that you were okay, but you didn't answer, and Mom told him that you just needed some time to yourself. Mom called me this morning and asked me to come over here after I left the club so he could calm down. She also said to tell you that she will keep the little one as long as you need her to."

"Tell Mom I said thanks. I really don't want him to see me like this. Tell Dad that I am okay, and he does not need to worry about anything."

"Do you want to talk about it?" she asked as she entered the bathroom.

"No. Thanks for the offer. Maybe later, but I'm not up to it just now. I must think about what I will tell Little L about this situation."

"You know I'm sure whatever you tell him will be fine he's a smart boy he'll understand." She said, walking back out of the bathroom with a wet washcloth.

"You know, how about you get yourself together and then think about Little L later. He's okay with Mom and Dad." then she started to wipe my head and eyes with the washcloth. "And you know he'll just think he is on a mini vacation, but he still has to go to school. You know, when he is with mom and dad, they make him feel as though he is on one anyway."

"Yeah, I know he's in good hands." then I sighed in frustration. "Tell Mom and Dad I appreciate everything they are doing, and I will call them soon."

"They know that," she sat down on my bed. "Listen, we all just want you to get through this and not to think about us. We have everything under control. You know we got your back, girl."

Niecey is the best sister anyone could have. She was not only my sister she was also my best friend. She and I have one year difference between us, she being the oldest. She has no children and no husband. She's sort of a free spirit. She didn't care what other people thought. She does things her way and that makes her happy. I sometimes wished that I were like her, but I was a conventional woman. Lamar and I met during my sophomore year of college. He was a junior, and we both were in the same accounting class. We were both business majors. We married a year after he graduated and a year before my graduation. We rented a one-bedroom apartment with a den in Downtown Baltimore. Two months before my graduation I found out that I was pregnant, so we decided that it was time to buy our first home. Lamar was making enough money now to support a home. He had already been working for his father's advertising firm soon after high school. Of course, he could have just learned the ropes from his father and not even gone to college, but Lamar's father was the type of man who believed in education and no easy outs. He wanted him to work himself up to get a feel of everything and know what it takes to run a successful business. This was all so when it was time for him to retire, he could feel confident in Lamar when he took over. We both agreed that we liked city life as opposed to county living because you had access to everything when you lived in the city. Everything was within walking distance, and that is how we liked it. We purchased a townhome in a new waterfront development. We put down a generous down payment. Our wedding present from Lamar's parents was a large amount of money that he kept in a trust and said could only be used as a down payment for our first home. As soon as I walked in, I fell in love. It was a three-bedroom with a family room. Very spacious home with a two-car garage that led to the basement. When you walk in the front door, you could either walk to the left and go upstairs or down three steps into the living room to the left, down a small hall was the dining area. If you pass the dining area straight down the hall, you step down into the kitchen. In the kitchen, there was an island with seating around it. A family room was partitioned off the kitchen with a cabinet with a marble countertop. In the master bedroom, there was a sitting area and a large ensuite. It had a world pool tub and a separate shower with seating. The second and third bedrooms were also big but not as spacious as the master bedroom. The two bedrooms shared a bathroom. Stairs lead up to another floor, and on that floor to the right was a room that had been made into a room for small gatherings. It had a wet bar and built-in wine racks. To the left led you out to a flat rooftop where you could sit and entertain when there were nice nights. I loved my family, and I loved taking care of them. I had all this before I was 22, and that is what made me happy. I've never regretted the decisions that I made.

"Well, I think that I am going to get out of here so you can get some rest. I'm going to grab some stuff from the rug rats room and then head over to Mom and dads. Call me if you need anything."

"I will," I said as the tears continued to fall onto my pillow.

"I'm serious, A, no matter what time it is. I love you." before she got up to leave, she gave me a kiss on my forehead.

"I love you too." then I turned around and said, "Oh, and Niecey, thanks."

"For what?"

"For not pushing me to talk about what happened."

"No problem. I know you will talk when the time is right."
