It had been two weeks, and life was back to normal, well as normal as it could be. I stayed with, Niecey for two weeks after everything had happened. It was Friday, and Niecey and I went to pick up Little L from his grandparents. It was also time for his father to tell him about the baby. I hadn't spoken to Lamar since the incident. It wasn't like he didn't try to call me. I just didn't accept his phone calls. When Little L and I walked into our building, he wanted to stop in at the Deli downstairs to get a milkshake. After he had his milkshake, we walked over to the elevators, and Little L pushed the up button. He danced around while we waited for the elevator doors to open. When the doors opened to the elevator, there he was. My heart dropped. I could also see the pain on his face when he looked at me. I looked down because I didn't want to see it. Especially when I knew that I was the cause of that pain.

"Uncle T," Little L said. Then he hugged him.

Terrence rubbed the top of Little L's head and then said, "I have missed you man. Did you have fun with your grandparents?"

"Yeah, we did so much I went swimming. Grandpa took me fishing and kayaking. We went camping and I helped grandpa make a campfire. We made smore's and put up a tent. We went to the water park and grandpa taught me how to swim."

"Wow man. You had a great time, huh?"

"Yeah, I didn't want to come home."

He looked at me and said. "I know the feeling. I barely want to come home anymore." I guess I deserved that.

"What are you getting me for my birthday?"

"That's right
it your birthday is coming up in about three weeks, August 12th " Then he grunted and said, "I guess that is why you are getting so tall. Pretty soon, you're going to be taller than me."

"Yeah, and mom said that I could have whatever I want."

"So, what do you want?" he asked.

"I want a new video game, and a cell phone."

"You want a cell phone? Don't you think that you are a little too young for that?"

"That's what mom says. She said that I should wait until I'm about twelve or thirteen years old. She said she would get me a tablet."

"Well, you need to listen to your mom, she's a smart woman."

I looked up but still couldn't look at him. I just wanted to cry and didn't care if he saw me. So, I did what I thought was best. I cleared my throat. "Uhm, honey, I'm pretty sure that Uncle T has to get going."

"Okayyyyy." Little L said as he whined. "Will you come see me when you get back? I have some new games that I'm going to kick your butt in."

"Honey, I'm pretty sure Uncle T is too busy to play video games," I said, trying to let him down easily and not put Terrence on the spot.

"Ooooooh, please Uncle T."

It broke my heart to hear him beg. What had I done? I not only broke up a relationship with my closest friend. I took away my son's favorite person other than his father. Then that is when the tears started to fall. I turned away so Little L couldn't see me.

Then Terrence said to him, "I have been really busy lately. I will try my best to come down and play your games with you."

"You promise?"

"I promise, or your mom can send you to my place and we can play there, but right now, I have to get going, I have to meet someone in about five minutes and I am running late."

"Okay."

"Love you man. I've really missed you." he said as he said to Little L

"I missed you, too." he said as he punched Terrence in the gut.
