Avian Burn's Point of View

I check the time on my wristwatch. Kagan is running late. We both decided that I would wait for him here in the waiting shed near gate two. Pero hanggang ngayon ay wala pa rin siya.

I waited for five more minutes when a black car stopped in front the waiting shed. Dahan-dahan bumaba ang bintana ng kotse sa passenger seat at nakita ko kaagad kung sino ang nasa loob ng itom na kotse.

"Hop in, Avian." Kagan, then smiled at me and waved his hands while inside. His tone is a different. Not the normal voice that Kagan have. Napakunot naman ang noo ko kahit makapasok ako sa loob.

"Kalix?" I asked while closing the door. Gosh! I didn't expect this. This is supposed to be the first time that I will accompany Kagan to the hospital for his appointment. I didn't expect that I'll be spending with them with Kalix— his other personality.

"Kagan is sick. He can't come. So here I am, saving the day again." His last tone is flat. The change of pronouns made me a little confused. Hanggang ngayon ay hindi pa rin ako nasasanay. But it only affirms my suspicions that Kalix is the one I'm talking to right now.

"I watched Kagan get dressed earlier, but he just can't button what he's wearing. Wala itong lakas kaya napagpasyahan ko na ako na lang ang pumunta sa appointment nila ni Dr. Clarke. Sayang naman diba kung walang pupunta para sa appointment niya?" Pinagmasdan ko lang ng mabuti si Kalix habang nagsisimula na mag drive.

"Are you really gonna meet the doctor?" The doctor handling his case will be shocked. To finally meet Kagan's other personality.

"Why not? I'll just answer some of his questions then that's it. Just like what happened to their interaction last time." Kalix looked at me mischievously, an expression that gave a confident feeling.

"You were there?" Bulalas ko.

"Yes, I'm watching Kagan and the doctor talk." My mind stopped working for a minute because I didn't think I could follow.

"So you're telling me that Kagan didn't know your existence until the doctor told him about you?"

"Yes."

"And when Kagan was already aware of your existence, he tried to kill you?"

"Yes, that son of a bitch." Bigla na lang itong umiling.

"Naalala ko na naman tuloy ang ginawa niya sa akin. I won't forgive Kagan for that. Kagan is just a coward ass who can't even protect himself. I mean he clearly wants to be like me, an image that he wants to fulfill. Kagan is mad at me for robbing his life. Pero hindi niya alam na hindi ako gumagawa ng mga bagay na ayaw niya." Napansin ko ang paghigpit ng kanyang hawak sa steering wheel.

"Maybe Kagan was just feeling lost since he realized that he's not alone in that body." Tinuro ko ang katawan niya. Now I wonder when was the first time Kagan that his other personality emerged? No, I think the better question is why Kagan developed into a dual personality. There must be a reason for it. Maybe genetics issues? I don't know. It's hard to figure out Kagan. Hmm, all I know is that whenever Kagan loses consciousness, his other self will take place. Thus Kagan forgets about it when Kalix takes over. But Kalix, on the other hand, can see whatever is happening like he was in a high place where he can see what's happening beneath him. Kalix is everywhere.

"Yeah, whatever. Kagan is the only name by which everyone knew about him. Identification card, the name of which this car is registered, delivery mail, and others. I think I didn't even say thank you for giving me a name, Avian. I never knew back then how important a name was to a person. Now, I have my own name. I felt finally free." Kalix looked relieved and relaxed while driving the car. Napatikhim naman ako sa sinabi niya at itinuon ko na lang ang aking tingin sa labas.
