Jesse didn't speak. Not even a single word. Two of her oldest friends were standing before her. The same friends she hadn't seen for years. She simply couldn't tell if she was imagining it or not.
Luckily, her question was answered when the two of them wrapped their arms around Jesse, pulling her in for a tight hug. She didn't think twice about hugging them back. She shut her eyes, smiling so wide that the smile must have stretched from ear to ear. Seeing them only made her realize how much she truly missed them. Finally, they pulled out of the hug.
"I can't believe you're here! I've missed you guys so much." Jesse rambled, too overwhelmed with emotion to contain her excitement. "Oh! I'm sure you want to see everyone else too. Come on, I'll take you to them."
She turned around to lead them inside, but Olivia cut her off. "Jesse, wait."
She faced them again, slight confusion plastered on her features.
"Is everyone alright? No one's hurt?" Olivia asked, worry filling her tone.
Jesse's smile faded to a small frown. "Of course we're alright. Why wouldn't we be?"
Axel and Olivia exchanged a glance.
"Wait, how'd you know we were all here?" Jesse asked reluctantly.
Axel spoke up. "Radar told us."
Jesse furrowed her brows. "When did you-"
"When did you last see Beacontown?" Olivia questioned.
"Romeo went a couple of days ago. Guys, what's going on?" She spoke with nervousness.
"Romeo as in the Admin?" Axel's eyes widened in surprise.
Only then did Jesse remember that Axel and Olivia were completely unaware of what's been going on these past months. They didn't even know Romeo had been helping her until now.
"It's a long story. But I don't understand. Beacontown is fine. Romeo told us." She tried to convince them.
Olivia took Jesse's hand and gave it a small squeeze. "It's gone, Jesse. Beacontown is gone."
Her heart became still at that moment. "What are you talking about?" Her voice went quiet.
"It's all burned down. The main hall, the town buildings, all of it is destroyed."
Jesse's windpipe closed up as the world seemed to cave in on her. When could this have happened? The town that she dedicated so much of her life towards was burnt to the ground. And she wasn't even there to do anything about it.
"Everyone is okay, luckily. But we were afraid something bad happened to you." Olivia spoke on, trying her best to speak in a comforting matter.
"Radar said you'd gone below the bedrock. That's why we came here. To find you." Axel continued.
Tears pricked the lids of her eyes. "How did this happen." She spoke between gritted teeth.
There was a short pause. "Herorbrine's back."
Of all the sadness she was undergoing, a different feeling outweighed that one. Rage.
"How is he even alive? Did he just- respawn from the dead?" Axel questioned.
Olivia glared at him. "We'll find a way to fix this, Jesse."
"Yeah, we'll get our revenge," Axel added.
"You got that right," Jesse mumbled before walking back into the fortress. "And I know exactly how I'm going to do it."
