"Do you like it?"
Destiny looked at the dress in the mirror, trying to find anything wrong with it. "It's actually... perfect."
She was actually actively trying on dresses today as opposed to just looking at them. They were all pretty but none of them really piqued her interest like the one she had on. It was actually quite simple which is why she loved it so much.
"Where's the glam?" Janine asked. "It's so plain, dear. This is the biggest day of your life and you want to go with that?"
Destiny sighed, stepping down from the platform. "And now I hate it."
"Mom. I think it's amazing." Ryan stood up. "Stand up, baby girl."
Destiny stood up, looking at her sister who had a wedding of her own not too long ago. Their mother didn't have any hand in planning Ryan's wedding which was part of the reason she wanted to plan Destiny's so bad.
"You look beautiful." Mariah cut in.
"Thanks, guys." She didn't want her mother to think everyone was against her. "Mom, I'll go try on something with more pizzazz."
Janine blew her youngest child a kiss. "There's the spirit."
Destiny excused herself, slipping out of the room and going to the dressing room to redress herself. When she was finished putting on her non-mother approved sweatsuit, she went out into the boutique of wedding dresses to look at different dresses.
She studied a dress with sequins on it, but something outside caught her eye.
Jordan was shopping with Jonathan on the long strip of designer stores. They were stopped in front of the store next to the one Destiny stood in currently, chatting with a pretty dark skinned girl.
Destiny knew she'd regret what she was about to do for many reasons but before her brain could process it, her feet had carried her to to the glass door where she stuck her head out.
"Hey, stranger." She called to Jordan.
Jordan looked up and around until his eyes landed on Destiny. She stood there with half her body leaning out the door, wearing a light blue sweatsuit and white crocs on her feet. She had the small remnants of a smile on her face.
"Hold on, y'all." Jordan called to his friends, walking up to Destiny.
She didn't even think when she walked all the way out the boutique. The woman had about 10 minutes before her mother came to look for her so she had to make the most of the conversation.
"Hey." Jordan greeted, subtly sweeping his eyes over her frame.
"Hi." Destiny pointed to the bags in his hand. "Are those new outfits for the playoffs?"
He was smiling already at her strange way to start up a conversation. "Yeah. You coming to game one?"
"Mhm." Destiny nodded, looking around. "I'm coming to all the games. Unless I'm planning the wedding. That won't be until late in the playoffs, though."
"Those are the best games, though." Jordan reminded her. "You gotta be at those games, Destiny."
She glanced behind her at the door to the boutique before focusing back on Jordan. "I'm gonna try. I want to be there."
Jordan looked up at the sign to the store she'd come out of, realization hitting him. "Oh, you busy looking at wedding dresses right now. I ain't know."
"You're fine." Destiny replied. "It's not any fun."
He furrowed his eyebrows. "You don't seem to like nothing involving this wedding. Still thinking about it?"
