The buzz around draft day was something that had always been serious in the Clark household.
Joe brought the Warriors 28 years ago when he was just 20, so he was not new to the draft process. He did it every year and had a lot of success in them.
Joe drafted Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond and had a lot of success with them. He made the Kevin Durant signing to help the dynasty. Joe also was able to draft key players like Jonathan Kuminga, Moses Moody, and Jordan Poole.
"I wish I was drafting you, kiddo." Joe told Jalen, straightening out his suit. "If you're still on the board at 20, I'm grabbing you."
Jalen smirked. "I'm going top 8."
His father nodded. "I know you are, son."
Ryan stepped in, smiling a little bit. "Don't wanna ruin the moment but Jay, we gotta take the jet out soon."
Ryan, Mariah, Jalen, and Destiny would all be taking a private jet to Vegas where the draft was held. It wasn't a long flight at all but draftees had to be there early for obvious reasons.
Janine entered the room, smiling at Jalen. "Hi, JJ. You are so, so handsome."
"Thank you."
She looked around the room and settled her eyes on Ryan. "For goodness sakes child, fix your posture. It's a bad look."
"I'm good." Ryan said, looking her up and down. "Your spanks are showing. Love you, though. Just don't give fashion tips."
"Hm." Janina tugged her dress down a little bit before looking at Destiny. "I see you're home today."
Destiny shrugged. "Sure, Mom. Are you guys ready to go?"
Destiny sat on the jet with her siblings, ecstatic that she could be around them. She wished Ryan and Mariah would move back to California since Jalen was about to get drafted and move to another state.
"I'm on an emotional roller coaster." Destiny said. "I'm happy he's getting drafted but I'm sad that he's gonna move out."
Jalen smacked his teeth. "You don't even stay there anymore, Tink."
"True but when I do, I wanna see you." Destiny wiped a fake tear from her face. "We're all really grown, guys."
Ryan hadn't seen Destiny since she'd been back in California. This was the first day she'd seen her sister since they were in Tokyo. So, it shouldn't come as a big surprise to any that the ring on Destiny's finger made her audibly gasp.
"Let me see that, Destiny."
"See what?"
"Your hand, girl."
"Oh..." Destiny put her hand out, watching her siblings and Mariah lean forward to look at her ring.
Destiny did not tell anyone in her family that she ran off to Michigan and got married. She didn't know how they'd react seeing as it was a last second, spur of the moment choice.
She didn't regret it and felt really good about it, after all nothing changed. They were still Destiny and Jordan.
"What's that?" MeMe asked, pulling Destiny's hand closer. "Last time I seen you with something like this on your finger, you was about to get married."
Destiny laughed. "I'm not about to get married."
"She already is." Jalen said, sitting back in his seat. "Ask her."
Ryan looked at Destiny, watching her scratch behind her ear. She had a ring on her finger that you didn't just casually buy for someone to wear. It was expensive looking and not only was it one ring. It was two.
