Day 10 - Red Camp

The red members arrive at camp, where it is still raining.

Rose: "Nice effort, Alix."

Ivan: "We were so close today. But close doesn't cut it."

Alix: "At the end of the day, immunity is what really matters. We've come out on top before and I believe we can do it again."

Ivan: "Yeah, but our track record hasn't been great."

Alix: "Meanwhile, I'll fetch some palm leaves, see if we can do something about our roof. Anyone want to come with me?"

Nathaniel: "Sure."

Alix and Nathaniel leave the shelter area.

Ivan: (confessional) "Believing we can win a challenge is one thing, but wishful thinking won't get us over the line. If we're going to succeed, we need action and right now, we don't have that."

Luka: "How do we avoid what happened yesterday?"

Mylene: "I don't want to back there."

Adrien: "I don't think anyone does. So, how do we avoid it?"

Ivan: "We need to be able to work together. Going into tomorrow's challenge, I suggest one person leads and the rest of us follow."

Rose: "Who would be the leader?"

Ivan: "Someone we're all going to listen to."

Luka: "Right now, we're listening to you."

Ivan: "Me?"

Mylene: "So, what are we doing, teddy bear?"

Ivan: "I would've thought Luka was more like the leader type."

Adrien: "So, what are we doing, Luka?"

Luka: "We'll find out when we see the challenge tomorrow."

Alix and Nathaniel, gathering palm leaves.

Alix: "What are we going to do?"

Nathaniel: "What's the current situation?"

Alix: "There appears to be some sort of hierarchy controlling the group and if I'm reading this right, there agenda is to run the tribe from the bottom end up."

Nathaniel: "Last night, Lila was in firing line. How long before it gets to us?"

Alix: "As much as I don't want to think so, I suspect we're next." Nathaniel gives an expression of regret. "What is it?"

Nathaniel: "I have a confession to make, I voted for Lila last night. It felt like too many people were uncertain and I didn't want to risk being on the wrong side."

Alix: "And what about now?"

Nathaniel: "If we could go back, I'd have stayed with voting Luka and would definitely vote Luka if we go back to tribal council. But it won't be enough, we only have 3."

Alix: "I think I can still talk to Rose, but you're right, we're running out of time."

Alix: (confessional) "Consider me convinced by the ghost of Lila, but I'm not going to just wait to be picked off. I signed up to play, so that's what I'm going to do."

Alix and Nathaniel return to camp with the palm leaves they've collected.

Alix: "Rose, are you available for a chat?"

Rose: "Yeah, that should be fine."

Rose begins to leave with Alix.

Luka: "Is that really necessary?"

Rose stops and Alix turns to face Luka.

Alix: "Is that a problem?"

Luka notices as eyes turn towards him.

Luka: "Not at all. Should be fine." Alix and Rose leave the shelter area. "I'm going to stock up on firewood."

Nathaniel: "In this condition?"

Luka: "It can't last forever."

Ivan: "Do you need any help?"

Luka: "Thank you, but I'll be fine."

Luka leaves the shelter area. Alix and Rose, at the well. Alix is filling their water bottles.

Rose: "What's this about?"

Alix: "Have you given any additional consideration to my offer?"

Rose: "The combined team with your brother's group? It can still happen, can't it?"

Alix: "In theory, yes. But who did we say would be in the group?"

Rose: "You said you were with Nathaniel and Adrien and we can add Luka, Ivan and Mylene."

Alix: "Which covers everyone here. If we go to tribal council again, we're all going to have to make a decision about who we want to move forward with."

Rose: "That's not a decision I want to make."

Alix: "I don't think that's a decision anyone wants to make, but we do need to prepare for that possibility."

Rose: "What are you suggesting?"

Alix: "If teaming with Jalil's group is going to work, we obviously need to get there first. We'll also need sufficient friends between us to allow the integration to run relatively smoothly."

Rose: "Then let's hope we don't have to face that decision."

Alix: "Thanks for your time."

Alix leaves and Luka approaches.

Luka: "What was that about?"

Rose: "Alix said that she and Jalil have ideas of combining alliances across our tribes and she has invited us to join."

Luka: "How would that work, given that Jalil is, as you just said, on another tribe?"

Rose: "At some point, the groups will have to combine, right?"

Luka: "Yeah. The trick is for us to get to that point first."

Rose: "You don't doubt it, do you?"

Luka: "Not on our end, but that also applies to Jalil and his group."

Rose: "So long as they've got Juleka, Ali and Marinette, they'll be fine. I have faith in that."

Luka: "As long as you're sure and your mind is at ease." Rose smiles and starts to leave. "Invited us or invited you?"

Rose: "Sorry?"

Luka: "Alix, did she invite us or just you?"

Rose: "Us. All of us."

Luka: "Ok."

Luka: (confessional) "As much as I don't want to doubt Alix's intentions because she's been really helpful to the tribe, there are a couple of red flags which need to be addressed. First, if her invite is to all of us, why am I just now hearing about it? Second, as much as being friendly is vital to this exercise, if you're friends with everyone, are you truly friends with anyone?"

As the afternoon continues, the rain lightens.

Ivan: "The rain's finally stopping."

Alix: "Looks like it. Now's our chance, get some wood. We're going to restart the fire."

Nathaniel and Rose collect the firewood in the area as Alix begins striking at the flint.
