Don't mind the picture at the top. It felt so empty so I had to put something my friends sent in our GC 😻

Once I got home, I ran to my room to change out of my wet clothes only to find Steve fast asleep.

Nancy walked past my room and smirked. "Damn, you tired him out last night?" She remarked.

I blushed and shoved her out of my room and slammed the door.

Steve jumped up from the noise and rubbed his eyes.

"Jonathan!" He exclaimed sternly.

"Steve!" I said sarcastically and he rolled his eyes.

He got up and planted a kiss to my neck before looking at the clothing in my dresser.

"Um.. whatcha doin' there Stevie?" I asked and he threw a shirt, jeans, and socks at me.

"Baby please change out of those! I don't want you getting sick." I scoffed and picked up the shirt that fell on the floor.

"You know what..here!" He said suddenly and threw underwear at me.

"Take a warm shower too."

I kissed the corner of his lower lip and left him there with a smile.

After getting out of the shower I shook out my hair to dry it. Some water did get on the floor so I made sure to dry it.

Steve wasn't anywhere in sight.

There were no sounds outside or in the living room so it was probably safe to assume that no one was home.

I walked to the kitchen making sure to still be careful with my ankle. After I served myself a bowl of chips I walked back to the living room.

'Where did I leave it..?'

Finally, after a few minutes of searching through the cushions, I found my phone and let myself fall on the couch.

That didn't last long as I got bored of scrolling through things.

I got up and left the bowl on the coffee table without eating anything else.

My mom was at work so instead I decided to call Nancy to check up on her since my only company was the puppy.

I let it ring for a few seconds before hanging up.

She didn't answer so I dialed Steve's number and let it ring but no one answered.

This time as I was about to hang up a voice called my name.

"Jonathan?" Steve said and I smiled.

"Where are you?" I asked with a worried tone. The door then opened and footsteps followed behind when the call ended.

"Right here." Steve responded with a smile on his face.

I smiled back but still hung with to the question I had asked him a few seconds ago.

He dropped what he was holding on the table and hugged me.

"I was dropping Will off at Mike's home. The kid really seems to like him." He said with a bigger smile spreading across his face.

I nodded as he continued to hold me in his arms and rest my head on his shoulder.

He let go of me with a sigh as the door opened to reveal my mother standing there carrying grocery bags.

"Hello boys, I didn't expect you two to be here." She said. "A little help please?"

Steve and I picked up a few bags and brought them to the kitchen.

When we were done helping her unpack and put the things away, Steve and I fell back on the couch.

We made sure to keep our distance from each other whenever my mom was back from work.

"How was school Jonathan?" she asked suddenly.

'Well there are two ways thing can go.

One, she just genuinely wants to know. Two, she found out I skipped class.

Jonathan, you really think you'll get away with that?

Yeah, not anymore..'

"Good. I got drenched in water but other than that, it went well." I said shooting her a smile.

"Really.."

I nodded.

I knew I was busted but it was worth a shot.

"Anything in particular happen?"

Steve looked at me and could already tell that I've done something.

He could help but smile at the fact that I couldn't speak one word.

"So you didn't skip two classes?"

"O-oh c'mon mom, w-what makes you t-think that?"

"Nothing, just a call I got from your teachers saying you weren't there."

Steve got up with a grin on his face and made himself a bag or popcorn.

He got a drink and all we could hear was the popping noises coming from the microwave.

"Mom, listen, it was a rainy day. It's not like we did anything terrible.

"Jonathan Byers, you can't just miss more than half a day of school and think I won't find out."

We then turned our heads to look at Steve opening the bag after it was ready.

His smile almost faded when he realized that my mom was staring at him with a stern look.

"Just pretend I'm not here..carry on.."

She looked back at me and crossed her arms.

"Even if you didn't do anything, you can't skip your classes when you feel like it!"

I let out a sigh.

"Mom, it's fine! It was just one day!"

"Go to your room Jonathan."

"But-"

"Now."

I groaned and started walking to my room.

"W-wait for me!" He yelled and speed walked past my mom to get to me.
