niki walked back home, the smile on his face not fading one bit. he was getting closer, at least that's how he saw it. back when jake offered him the deal of helping him out as long as he was honest, he initially just said nothing and tried to switch the topic. he wasn't stupid, he knew jake wasn't either and he eventually caved and accepted it. niki talked about y/n for 2 hours straight that day.

while it came from a good place, jakes many direct physical attempts to get them closer were either rejected by riki or didn't work out as he thought. they had both decided a few days ago it's best for jake to stay in the advice lane rather than suggesting they stage a break-in and say niki has to stay with y/n for his own safety, which was indeed one of the aforementioned rejected ideas.

part of the deal was that jake keeps his mouth zipped about nikis feelings, though he very quickly broke that promise and told heeseung who told jay who told jungwon who told sunoo who told sunghoon. that day in the library and everything that followed that night was fully planned out. though niki appreciated the effort, he asked everyone to step back a bit as he wanted to try to do most of this on his own. and now, he couldn't wait to call jake and tell him everything.

he couldn't be more excited to go to school than he was the next day. his mind was racing all night, he couldn't stop thinking about how close you had gotten the night before. if he could go back just to stay there with you in his arms, he would. he could stay there forever. and now he was determined to make it happen again, only this time he wanted you to remember.

walking around the halls with his head moving in every direction to search for you, niki arrived at the hall near your locker where you just happened to be coming out of at that very moment. your eyes landed on his and you immediately smiled, not even noticing how he was smiling before you looked at him.

"hey tutor" you said as you shifted to walk beside him

"how's your morning been, my favorite student ?" he asked with a grin

"good, but can you really say favorite if i'm you're only student ?"

"even if you weren't the only one , you'd still be it" he said making you blush a bit

"and here i thought teachers didn't have favorites" you replied smiling as you both came to a stop in front of your second period class

"they don't, but you're special" he said tossing you a wink before walking in the room

taking a second to process what just happened, you stood at the door for a bit longer until someone passed by you and tapped you on the shoulder. still a bit taken aback from the previous situation, you didn't move your head to see who it was until you saw their hand waving in your face.

"hoon ?" you frowned finally looking at him after pushing his hand away

"took you long enough, you know people don't usually appreciate blocked doors right ?" he replied with a sarcastic tone as he gently pulled you towards him and away from the entrance

"wait... what" you asked confused and still not fully snapped out of it

"the hell happened to you ? why are you acting all funny ?" he asked

"meet me in the cafeteria 3rd period i want to talk to you." you said before turning around to leave

"what do you mean i don't have lunch 3rd and neither do you" sunghoon said after pulling you back to face him again

"then skip. im going to class now text me if you don't know how to or something." you said leaving him a bit lost but on board nonetheless

you walked into the room right before the bell rang and went straight to your seat, hoping the teacher wouldn't come in before you sat down.

"hey," you heard niki whisper-call and looked up at him smiling

"what do you have 4th ?" he asked after smiling back

uh oh..

"gym, why ?" you had a feeling why but you were hoping you were wrong

"if you don't mind missing gym, i don't mind missing art. do you wanna go to the library ?" he replied, confirming your suspicions

just as you were about to speak, the teacher entered and obviously not wanting to discuss skipping in front of her you signaled him to move to texting as the lesson began.

you turned to look at him and he looked back smiling again. he mouthed the words "it'll be okay" and finally you gave in and nodded before smiling back. you both turned back towards the board despite neither of you paying attention to the lesson as you were occupied thinking about each other the whole period.

you said bye to niki as you left the room before him, leaving him to continue arguing with jungwon all the way into the hallway for teasing him after he caught him smiling at his phone during class.

you had a feeling sunghoon would have trouble finding you in the cafeteria so you waited by the doors. you were about to text him before you saw him running up to you, seemingly trying to get away from the crowd of people flowing in.

"hey." he said stopping next to you

"okay let's go" you pulled him by his sleeve and hurried to the table in the back corner of the cafeteria where you were least likely to get schedule-checked

you sat down on the bench as he sat next to you. you put your knees up to your chest and turned to face him with your back against the wall.

"so what's up ? why did you wanna talk ?" he asked laying his head down on the table

"it's about riki" you said

he immediately lifted his head and looked at you with a slight smile before gesturing for you to go on.

"i don't know hoon, i might sound crazy i mean maybe it's just me but things have felt different recently. it's almost like... flirty ? -er ?"

"i feel dumb for wondering but— do you think he might actually like me ?"

note: WOO chapters out ! i had the absolute worst writers block moment trying to figure out the smoothest way to go from here and i'm so glad i actually have the entire rest of this planned out for now but that being said this is not the best story you'll ever read and i'm certainly not the best author (though i will continue to try my best) but thank you regardless for all the reads this book has reached it makes me so happy to know there are people who enjoy my work !! thank you again for reading and please remember to vote if you liked the chapter !! <33
