it's been two weeks since you decided to get over your feelings for niki completely

how is it going? it's... definitely an attempt.

minor setback: you need homework answers and you don't know anyone else in that class

after a few minutes of debating whether or not to do it, you scrolled through your messages searching for niki's name. upon finding it, past messages start bringing up old memories.

despite being friends in 7th grade you never got each other's numbers or socials so once the year was over, your friendship ended with it. shockingly enough however, you had 2 classes with him in 8th grade and ended up talking again but this time got his number to keep talking outside of school.

he was one of your closest friends at the time, he just didn't know you were in love with him.

neither of you were really sure what happened or how it happened but after a few months you just started texting less. you ended up dropping the two honors classes you had with him 2 months into the school year because they were too advanced for you and you took regular classes instead. texting, calling, and seeing each other in the hallway was the pretty much the extent of your communication for the rest of that year. the texts became less and less, the calls completely stopped, and you just sort of drifted apart. and through all of this your feelings for him remained the same.

seeing all these texts from 2 years ago you seemingly forget all about your plan to move on.

after some minutes of reminiscing about your old friendship you remembered what you needed and texted him about the homework.

he is making this— so much harder than it needs to be...

after copying down the answers, you get a call from your friend yeji asking to go out somewhere and you end up agreeing to meet at a diner/cafe near her house.

yeji is already sitting at a booth waiting for you by the time you get there.

"y/n come sit!!" she calls to you as she sees you walking in.

"hii" you sit down across from her.

"so how's it going with the whole getting over niki thing" she asks you

after talking about it with sunghoon you told yeji all about how you were ready to finally be over him and how you "got this"...

"i do not got this as much as i thought i did" you tell her about how texting him and even just reading older texts made you feel. you admit you're not sure if you can do this.

"i've liked him for so long— my feelings haven't changed in so long it just feels weird trying to push them away. i guess i'm just used to liking him"

"i get it i mean it's obviously gonna feel weird trying to push away feelings you've had for 3 years. your brain doesn't remember what it's like to not be in love with him it's gonna feel wrong. but y'know... i kind of agree with sunghoon" yeji says before taking a sip of the milkshake she ordered while you were explaining.

yeji and sunghoon aren't really friends, they just have you as a mutual friend and pretty much only communicate through you.

"what do you mean?" you ask as you also take a sip of your milkshake.

"it's not like you have zero chance with niki. there's history there, and obviously he wants to talk to you again" you just sit there listening, not really agreeing but rather acknowledging her points.

there's no way niki and i would ever be more than friends if we talked again.

"and stop thinking there's no way you would be more than friends because we all know damn well it's pretty possible" you look at her in slight shock at how well timed that was. to be fair, yeji knows you better than most people. she always does that. still a little creepy sometimes though.

you talked and talked for another hour or so before going home just to find sunghoon sitting on your front porch waiting for you.

"oh hey you're finally home" he says as he stands up and walks towards you, following from behind as he waits for you to unlock the door and walks inside.

"i was out with yeji"

"oh nice. did you eat already?" he asks

"no we just had milkshakes"

"wanna order some food" he suggests while grabbing a water out of the fridge.

"sure what do you wanna get" you replied as you go to sit on the couch.

"wings please i have been craving wings all week" he sits next to you and looks over your shoulder at your phone while you order the food telling you *exactly* how he likes his wings and all the sides he wants.

"oh and get the-" you cut him off.

"hoon! that's like the 4th side plus the wings im not getting any more food for two people this is already so much"

"well then how about we invite some people" he says making you curious.

"what do you mean"

"you know the guys, what if we ask them to come over" the first thing that pops in your head is niki.

"maybe another day. i think i'm good for now" you say as sunghoon shrugs and lets out a little laugh knowing exactly why you said no.

"fine. but you're gonna have to talk to niki again eventually y'know" he says back.

"actually i texted him today" you said, making sunghoon sit up and look at you in a dramatic fashion.

"YOU WHAT?!"
