"Sorry!" Taehyung was apologetic, bowing at the homeroom teacher.
Letting out a sigh, the teacher waved him off to go sit down. Taehyung let the famous boxy smile appear before he took his seat. Dahyun told the teacher earlier but your teacher looked a bit annoyed. Must be the days of exams as well, you figured.
As the student in front of you handed the papers, they were not even looking at you. It was a bit strange as they fully turned around to hand the previous exams since the papers were long and awkward to hand backwards. You wanted to ask them but felt it was rude. Still, you took the stack, took one out and handed the rest behind you.
Hm, why are you overthinking it? You should be focusing on your grades! You lightly scolded yourself. Ugh, the day of exams always messes with people's heads.
-
"One day down, three to go." Dahyun said, packing her pencil.
"We can do this." You tried to be encouraging but your voice sounded fake. Even you could tell.
She laughed monotonously as Taehyung came over. "I feel tired." He commented to which you two were quick to agree to. Coming to the front of the school, Dahyun suddenly paused, groaning at her phone. "I need to stop by the store to pick something up for mom. Do you mind if you walk home today?"
"Sure, it's no problem." You smiled.
"I'll walk with you." Taehyung offered. You agreed to do so, thinking of it as a friendly gesture. Dahyun parted ways and you walked to the station with Taehyung. It was a quiet walk to the station and as you two waited for the train, Taehyung let out a noise of surprise.
Confused, you watched as he suddenly dug through his bag and fished out a bread. He then smiled and held it out for you. You blinked and it took you a moment to connect the dots. "Are you sure? It's yours."
"Nah, you can have it. I bought two earlier but I wasn't hungry." He explained.
Who were you to deny food? You gratefully accepted it and began to chew happily. The corner of your mouth was pulled up at the corners. You were so happy that you finally got one after today! Okay, today wasn't that bad of a day, you decided.
-
There goes the feeling, Taehyung thinks to himself. He smiles to himself seeing the happy expression etched onto your face. He likes it when you're happy. Who knew that all it took was a few threatening words from that student?
"Give me the bread." Taehyung stated, dark eyes on the lone student who managed to snag one before they all sold out.
"Huh? I bought this for myself. Get your own." The student angrily talked back, rightfully so.
Taehyung's eyebrow twitched. "And they're sold out. Give it to me." He stated once more. He can't have you look all sad. The feeling of being the one to save the day is creeping onto his mind, consuming it.
"No." The student was firm and moved to walk away.
The feeling of anger snapped from where it remained dormant this whole time. In a flash, Taehyung's hand went for the back of the student's uniform and harshly tugged. For a brief moment, the student gasped for air as the collar crashed onto his throat. "No, huh?" Taehyung practically had menace in his voice.
"I think that's the wrong answer." He snatched the snack out of the student's hands. Once he got the precious item in his possession, Taehyung shoved the student harshly against the wall. They crashed onto the floor and Taehyung stepped on their hand.
"It would also be wise to keep quiet about this to everyone, right?" Taehyung glared down at the student who nervously nodded. "Good." He walked away, a happy expression now on his face like that encounter never happened in the first place.
-
"I know I failed." Someone from the group said.
"Hey, me too. At least we'll work retail jobs together." They agreed with each other.
You were a bit amused by the antics by the group. Seojoon sat by your side, you leaning against him. "Do you think you did well?" You asked him.
Seojoon let out a sigh. "I'm pretty sure I barely passed. So that's something?"
You chuckled and agreed with him on not doing well on the last few questions. Suddenly, one of your friends hissed in pain. They clutched their hand and you saw a cut on their finger. They glared at a piece on the pole of the train. There was a jagged edge that looked like it wasn't polished right.
Quickly, you fished a band-aid out of your backpack and handed it to them. "I don't have any wipes but make sure to do that and disinfect it when you get home." You said.
As the hurt friend tended to their wound, nodding at your instructions, another piped in. "How did you know what to do? Are you planning on becoming a doctor?" They excitedly asked.
You nodded. "Yep, that's what I want to do in the future."
They all looked so excited for you. "A doctor suits you." Taehyung now chimed in. He's been quiet for most of the ride which makes you a little concerned. Maybe he was just tired from today.
"Thank you." You smiled brightly. With everyone's encouragement, you know that you're going to push yourself harder and become a doctor! You could feel Seojoon's hand squeeze yours as you did the same. This makes you all the while happier. "Oh, did you want your notebook back?" You asked Taehyung.
He shook his head in response. "You can throw it away or do whatever with it."
You nodded and continued to talk with the group oblivious to the way Taehyung's eyes sometimes watched your hands linked together with Seojoon.
"Oh thanks you didn't have too!" You accepted the new snack from Taehyung. It's the second day of exams and Taehyung returned from the snack shop with a little something for Dahyun and you.
Dahyun thanked him, put her earphones in and went back to resting her eyes (a.k.a a small nap before the rest of the exams). You happily continued to dig into yours.
"Which university are you going to?" Taehyung asked as he ate his.
"Hm, I am thinking of going to the local university here but I was thinking of transferring to a medical school. I'm not sure yet and have to send in applications to see if I get accepted or not. It all depends on that." You replied thoughtfully. "How about you?"
"Most likely the one here." He propped up his head with his hand. "Though I'm not sure what I want to do yet. I think it's wonderful that you know what to do in the future."
Happiness surged through you. "Thanks. I'm sure you'll find something you're passionate about and you can try so many different things! Who knows, you might get addicted to some career path that you'll love." You hoped your words were enough encouragement.
An infamous boxy smile formed on his face. "You think? You always know what to say."
Bashfully, you smiled and took another bite, unaware of Taehyung's eyes studying you know.
