Chapter 18

Dahyun's frantic footsteps resonate within the hospital halls. She comes to a stop at the nurse's station. "Where is Y/N?!"

It takes a moment for Dayton to repeat your full name. The nurse types away and spots it. The nurse directs her to the surgery hall. Quickly, Dahyun sprints down the hall and finally sees your parents. They're crying their eyes out. "Is Y/N going to be okay...?"

No one can talk for a while until one of your parents does.

"I-It's highly unlikely..." They sob. "She was already losing too much blood and was on the brink of death when they found her..."

Dahyun chokes up. You disappeared for weeks and suddenly, she gets a phone call from your parents that you're at the hospital. What happened to you? Dahyun takes a seat and anxiously looks at the sign above the door saying you're still in surgery. She let Seojoon know earlier and he should be on his way soon.

All she can do is hopelessly wait and that you're going to make it. You just have to.

There's commotion down the hall and suddenly, there's someone rushing into the waiting room.

Taehyung.

This is Dahyun's first time that she's seen him in a while. Though she pauses in greeting him. How did he know you were here? She hasn't contacted him since that day. Taehyung whips his head to them. "Will Y/N be okay?!"

There's a frantic look in his eyes as one of your parents repeat their words from earlier. Taehyung looks devastated and clutches his head in his hands. Dahyun looks over at him and notices some specks of dirt on his clothes. Wait. She sees some of the stains are also red.

Another pair of footsteps rush into the area and Dahyun has never seen him before.

"What the fuck do you think you're doing?!" He snaps and clutches at Taehyung's shoulder.

Taehyung is quick to whack his hand off of him. "No! I'm staying here until Y/N is out of there!"

Suddenly, security enters the area due to the commotion. "Please restrain my son." The man turns to the guards.

Dahyun gasps. She's confused as to what's going on.

Taehyung glares at practically everyone. "No, I said I'm staying here."

"No, you're not." The man says. "I want you as far away as possible."

Dahyun feels like she has to intervene. "W-What's going on...?"

Both of them turn towards her. "It's just a little fight, Dahyun." Taehyung says and puts on a smile. "Nothing to be worried about."

"Worried about?" His father scoffs.

Taehyung stares at him, daring to say it. And he does.

"Stay away from him. He's the reason for why Y/N went missing."

There's a sudden tension in the air. Dahyun frantically stands up. "What does he mean, Taehyung?" Everyone else in the area is confused. "Taehyung, answer me!" She screams at him. She can hear the panic in her voice.

He keeps quiet and then their attention is drawn towards the operating room. A doctor comes out, removing the mask off his face. There's a sad expression on the doctor's face. "I'm so sorry but it was too late." Dahyun feels like she's going to collapse. Her heart is heavy with the news and she stumbles to sit back down again. Besides her, your parents are sobbing uncontrollably.

"You're fucking useless." Taehyung growls out. Suddenly, he lunges forward at the doctor but thankfully his father is quick to knock him to the side.

Dahyun flinches from his anger. Then in a flurry, Taehyung is punching his own father. Dahyun gasps and watches as the security guards restrain him. "You killed Y/N!" Taehyung practically snaps at the doctor.

"What did you do to Y/N?" Dahyun is wary of him and can't shake the feeling that Taehyung might have done something to you.

"Nothing!" Taehyung's head whips to her. "I only wanted to see how Y/N acts! That's it!"

"What did you do?!" Dahyun levels a glare on him. She can feel her anger rising. What has he done to you now that you're gone?

Taehyung says it. "I was addicted! I..."

The man gets on knees to bow. "I'm so sorry. There's nothing I can do to make up for what my son did."

"What..." Dahyun tries to start her question but she doesn't want to hear the answer. She's fearing the worst.

"Taehyung kidnapped Y/N and hid her in our attic." Everyone stills. "We just found out this morning and then this..." He can't continue, choking up on his words.

Dahyun's eyes trail to Taehyung who just... there's no expression on him. Your parents are frozen to their seats, processing the words that came out of the man's mouth. She's afraid of him but she also wants to hit him. "You did this to Y/N!" She storms over to him, anger blazing but is stopped by one of the guards who shook his head. "You fucking sicko!"

She wants to see him suffer.

The man on the floor cries his heart out as officers arrive. Exchanges of accounts are made and then Taehyung is whisked away. Finally, Dahyun collapses to the ground and cries. Moments later, Seojoon arrives. He reaches Dahyun and crouches down to her level. "What happened?"

Broken words are spoken, recounting on the event moments before and he lets out his own tears.

They're not sure how to process anything.

They feel terrible.

They should have checked everywhere.

They lost someone important.

They don't know what to do anymore.
