Jaylen (Jay) Soo
POV:

"Vari." I whisper out.

I couldn't sleep. Especially since I could hear the drunken adults downstairs playing games. I don't know how Kavari can sleep right now.

Thanksgiving break was almost over.

Meaning school would be back in session. We'd go back on break soon enough with Christmas right around the corner.

And for some odd reason, some of Kavari's relatives were still visiting.

"Hm?" He says half awake. He spooned me, pulling my back closer to his chest.

"Are you awake?" I ask facing him.

"I am now. What?" He asks running a hand down his face.

I feel bad for waking him, but I can't sleep.

"I can't sleep." I look into Kavari eyes as he squints. He seemed to be a bit confused, yet his eyes relax instantly.

Dark Caramel.

That's what Kavari's eyes reminded me of at this very second.

"They too loud downstairs?" He asks. Who knew my mom's laugh would match her personality?

A witch.

"Yeah." I let out a heavy sigh.

"Ok, let's go." Kavari gets up grabbing a shirt from his dresser. I give him a confused look.

It's past midnight. What's does he mean?
"Huh?" I ask.

"Let's go. We can go somewhere. They loud as hell anyways." Like I said, it's past midnight. No way our parents will let us leave willingly. I know for sure my mom wouldn't allow it.

"Go where? They won't let us leave." I say sitting up on his bed. Kavari let's out a laugh pointing to his window.
"Who said we was leaving out the front door?"

There's no way.

There's always a way with Kavari Keen Floyd.

"You're gonna drop me!" I whisper shouts to Vari as he holds his hands out.

He's waiting for me to jump down. I could break my legs, land wrong, break my arm, fracture my spleen, crack open my skull, or possibly land on Kavari and kill him.

"Jay, jump. You been up there forever." He says impatiently.

"I've only been up here for five minutes."

"Five minutes too long."

"How will we even get back up?" I ask looking down to the ground. I glance to Kavari's car wondering if I can land there.
