Hazel's P.O.V
Three months into our freshman year, I found myself spending a lot of time in the library with my friends Liam and Lily after school. We were always accompanied by Aiden, who had become an integral part of our group. On this particular day, as we walked into the library, Aiden was already there, waiting for us with a frown on his face.
Lily noticed his mood immediately and asked him what was wrong. Aiden vented his frustration, explaining that a new boy in our class had pushed him into second place on a recent test. I could see how disappointed he was, but I did my best to lift his spirits by telling him that he could still excel on the next test.
After some small talk, I pulled out a sheet of paper from my backpack and asked Aiden for help with a question. He agreed without hesitation, and we worked on the problem together.
Later that night, I went to Lily's room to hang out with her. We sat on her bed, sipping hot chocolate, and chatting about the events of the day. I told her about Aiden's disappointment and my attempt to cheer him up. Lily agreed that Aiden was a unique presence in our group, always making us feel safe and comfortable around him.
"I mean, he's older than everyone else," Lily quipped, "and I was also born a minute later, so he should make us feel safe." We both chuckled at her comment before settling down to study for a while.
Overall, even though Aiden had experienced a setback, we knew he had the potential to bounce back and continue to shine in his class. And as for us, we were grateful to have each other and Aiden's reassuring presence in our lives.
After studying for a while, Lily expressed her wish that Liam was also like Aiden - responsible and good in studies. She felt that Liam's only goal was to make a career in music, which might not be as easy as he thought it would be. I told her that everyone has different aspirations and capabilities, and we should respect and support their choices. However, she still hoped that Liam could excel in his studies and make a successful career in music while Aiden could pursue his dream of becoming a doctor.
I asked Lily what she wanted to be in the future, and she answered, "I want to be an artist." I wasn't surprised by her answer because Lily had always been interested in art and was very talented at it. Her creativity and imagination knew no bounds, and she had a unique perspective that was evident in her work.
Then she turned the question to me, "What do you want to be in the future?" I hesitated before replying, "I want to be a detective." Lily looked at me in surprise, and I could see the questions in her eyes. I went on to explain that I had always been fascinated by mysteries and loved solving puzzles. I wanted to help people find justice and closure in their cases.
As we talked more, I realized that Lily and I had different dreams, but we shared the same passion and determination to achieve them. We promised each other to support and encourage one another in our journeys, no matter how different they may be.
In the end, we both knew that the road ahead would be challenging and uncertain, but we were ready to face it together. We would each pursue our dreams with all our hearts and hope to achieve success and fulfillment in our lives.
(To be contd....)
