Hazel's P.O.V
It's been three months since the murders began, and the fear in our small town has only grown. Lily and I couldn't stand the thought of living with a murderer, so we decided to take matters into our own hands. On November 7th, we made a plan to catch Aiden. We stayed up all night, waiting for Aiden to leave the house. Finally, in the early hours of the morning, Aiden emerged from his room, but his face was not visible. He was wearing a mask and a cap. My heart pounded in my chest as I watched him hold a white knife in his hand. We hid in the cupboard in our living room, hoping that he wouldn't discover us.
Lily was trembling with fear, and I couldn't blame her. The realization that we were living with a murderer was too much to bear. I just looked at her, silently praying that we would make it out of this alive. In fear, we didn't know when we drifted to sleep.
I woke up to complete darkness, disoriented and confused. I tried to make sense of my surroundings and then realized Lily was next to me. I shook her, hoping to wake her up. When she finally opened her eyes, her voice was shaky and she asked, "Where are we?"
It took a few moments for my eyes to adjust, and that's when I realized we were inside the living room cupboard. I pushed the door open and stepped out, helping Lily up as well. We stood there, silent, trying to process what had happened.
"Lily, was it real or just a dream?" I asked, still unsure.
"My brother... he's not the same person I thought he was," she replied, her voice quivering with fear.
After some time, Liam came from outside. He started to tell us about the murder that happened again. My mind was reeling as Liam recounted the details of the latest murder. It felt like a recurring nightmare, another victim killed in the same manner, every 30 days. Lily was trembling beside me as Liam mentioned the white knife. I couldn't believe what he suggested next."Guys, are you hiding something from me?" he asked.
Lily and I exchanged a look before spilling everything. The truth about Kai, Aiden, and the video I took. I couldn't bear to hear Liam suggest what I knew he was going to.
"Let's kill him," he said.
Lily yelled out in disbelief, but Liam was serious.
"Do you even know what you're saying?" I asked, feeling frustrated.
"Yes, I do," he replied. "If we don't take matters into our own hands, we could be in danger. Reporting this to the police would only make things worse for us. People might suspect we're involved."
His words made a twisted kind of sense, but I still couldn't believe he wanted me to do it.
"Who's going to kill him?" Lily asked.
"Of course, Hazel," Liam said, pointing his finger at me. "You're the one who has the video, You're the one who saw everything, and you're the one who has the guts to do it."
"Me? Why me?" I protested, feeling a wave of fear wash over me.
I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Liam and Lily were suggesting that we kill Aiden but I had one burning question on my mind: How? "What's the plan?" I asked, hoping they had a solid answer. "We'll give you a gun," Liam said, as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. I was hesitant, but I agreed to go along with their plan.
The next day, I walked out of my room and found Lily and Liam waiting for me. Before I could even ask what was going on, they pushed me back into my room. My heart raced as Liam revealed the gun. "Where did you even get that?" I asked, my mind racing with questions.
