Chapter 7: Team Fierce

Topaz radioed in for a pickup helicopter, while they waited Mighty and Ray got to know their new partner a bit more.

Sticks was leaning against a tree when Mighty and Ray approached her, naturally she hunched over a bit and rested her hand on her boomerang causing the duo to put their hands up "S-Sorry, I'm just ain't use to being around others."

This only made Mighty smile "Well, if we are to be friends, we might as well get to know and trust one another don't ya think?"

Sticks nodded and relaxed her stance and let go of her boomerang "Yeah, well... where are you guys from?"

"Oh boy..." Mighty let out a small sigh as he rubbed the back of his head "Ya know, we've been traveling for so long I kinda forgot." Might then glanced at Ray for his response.

Ray simply shrugged "My oldest memories are traveling along side you, the earliest place I can remember was you and me being trapped on Eggman Island with Sonic."

Mighty rubbed his chin reminiscing that event "Oh yeah, we were captured but then we escaped. After that Sonic went his own way and we've been traveling ever since."

Nodding along, Sticks looked down at the ground "I've been here since I was born. I learned to fend for myself growing up, then Eggman came and created that abomination you people call a cas- a casci-... the loud place with the bright lights."

Their conversation came to an end when winds started to pick, a helicopter landing not too far from the group. Topaz glanced back at her recruits with a smile "Everyone on the chopper, we'll get you three to orientation as soon as we land in hq."

Sticks was hesitant to get on the helicopter, but Mighty promised her to hold her hand if it'll calm her down. Eventually with enough coaxing from the treasure hunters Sticks aboard the helicopter.

The flight didn't last long and Sticks surprisingly enough held herself together till they landed. Once grounded Sticks threw herself onto solid ground and began to kiss it "Finally off the death machine."

Topaz escorted the trio throughout the base till they got to this big empty room. It was strange but suddenly one of the walls erupted into static before becoming a clear image. It was Commander Towers "Topaz, I see you've completed your mission. Introduce me to our newest agents."

With a smile on her face Topaz went down the line "This here is Mighty the Armadillo, he's strong and an able fighter. His thick shell is able to protect him from mo-"

Before Topaz could finish Mighty cut her off "With all do respect, ma'am, but I'm a pacifist. I don't fight to fight."

Topaz froze at that information, feeling a sudden pressure from the man behind the screen who had a skeptical look.

Seeing the sudden tension Ray cleared his throat to get everyone's attention "Mighty may be a pacifist, but that doesn't me he's gonna stand by watching us get hurt. He's a protector not an aggressor."

With a small sigh of relief from Ray's intervention the proceeded with the introduction "Commander, this is Ray the Flying Squirrel. He's agile, swift, and an ace pilot."

Topaz then moved onto the next member "And finally rounding out the team is Sticks the Badger, she's cunning, a skill fighter with a multitude of weapons, and is great with stealth."

Commander Tower hummed tom himself, thinking as he stared the three down "And you three agreed to join Guardian Units of Nations?"

The three before him all nodded in unison.

"Very well, From this day forth you three shall form Team Fierce. Lieutenant Topaz, get these three rooms in the barracks and through orientation. Then return here for their first assignment."

Topaz saluted Commander Towers then did an about face to lead Team Fierce to their rooms "Come you three, we have alot to do."

The three followed Topaz out of the room and throughout the base to where she lead them to a hall with many doors. She stopped and turned to face her new agents "Mighty room 95, Ray room 96, Sticks room 94. I'll give you three a minute to check your rooms out."

Might and Ray both entered their room and looked about, it was very barren with only a bed and a single night stand with a lamp on it.

Sticks however stood at her door not going in, she turned to face Topaz "You're sure there ain't no cameras in there to spy on me? I know you government types."

Topaz couldn't help but giggle softly "No Sticks, but there is a speaker in there so we can inform you of things, or if you'd like to play music."

Sticks let out a shaky breath "Al-alright... I won't go in but Im gonna trust you... c-cause that's how friends are made.."

"Of course Sticks, we wouldn't want to make you uncomfortable would we. Now, if you follow me we can continue with orientation." Topaz then peered into Mighty's room then Ray's to get them to follow along with the orientation.

Topaz toured them throughout the base, showing them where the chow hall was, where the showers were, the armory, and they ended their tour where they met Commander Towers which was the training room.

As they entered the training room the wall flickered then cleared to show Commander Towers once more "Welcome back Team Fierce. Now out in the field you'll most likely be on enemy territory so to protect your identities we'll be giving you three code names."

"Mighty, as acting team leader and protector of this team, your code name is Spartan. Ray being an ace pilot and Mighty's right hand man, your code name is Aviator. Sticks being the unpredictable wild card from the jungle, your code name is Hunter."

With Commander Towers making Team Fierce official he began to debrief them on their first mission "Team Fierce, on the screen is the location of a possible Chaos Emerald. Your first mission is a simple retrieval mission."
