Chapter 9: Gadgets and Gear

The ride back to base was long, quiet, and awkward. Rouge and Omega had administered first aid on Ray to alleviate his pain while Mighty and Shadow were locked in a stare down.

Trying to cut the tension and the silence Rouge introduced herself "This is ridiculous guys, bickering and moping will get us nowhere. So, let's get the introductions out of the way do Towers doesn't bore us too much. Im Rouge the Bad, code name Trinket."

Ray spoke up next "Ray the flying squirrel, code name Aviator." He then held out his hand to Rouge who took it in hers and shook it.

The next to chime in was Omega "I am E-123 Omega, alias Warden." Omega turned to see Sticks staring him down, animosity plastered all over her face "stop staring at me you smallfry."

Sticks narrowed her eyes "You some kind of evil robot sent to destroy the world? Im on to you." This made Rouge giggle and Omega roll his eyes.

Mighty was the first to break the tension between him and Shadow by smirking, however Shadow broke the silence first "what's so amusing?"

"I had ya on the ropes."

Mighty's smug face irked Shadow causing him to frown and bared his fangs. However giving it some thought he returned to his neutral expression "You know what, there isn't many people who can keep up with me. It's admirable."

Mighty smiled more modestly "Well ya put up a good fight."

Both Team Fierce and Team Dark are now lined up in the training room being evaluated on their mission by Commander Towers and Lieutenant Topaz.

"This evaluation will primarily focus on Team Fierce. You're all sloppy and all over the place. There isn't any teamwork. Mighty, as acting leader you failed your team. Ray you don't work well under pressure or alone, you also need more combat training. Sticks your tools and weaponry are outdated and unreliable."

Commander Tower's evaluation over Team Fierce was an attack on their pride, seeing this Topaz stepped in "From now on you six will be training with one another as well as collaborating with R&D to upgrade your gear. You didn't do too bad and we have a foundation to build upon. I believe in you all."

Picking up Commander Towers resumed talking "Lieutenant Topaz contact the lead engineer from R&D to help with Team Fierce tools and weaponry." With that Commander Towers ended coms with the teams leaving them in an empty training room.

Topaz approached Shadow "Shadow take charge while I get into contact with Tails." She saluted Shadow and left the training room.

Shadow then stepped forward and turned to face the other five "We'll start small by working on you individually then progress and getting you three to work like a proper team."

Topaz walked out into the hall and pulled out her phone dialing Tails' number. Tails was quick to pick up "Hey Tails, do you think you can come down and get the new recruits some gear, you know basic protocol."

"Sure thing, I got some stuff I also wanted to test out." Tails then hung up and began to pack.

"Mighty, you lack leadership and teamwork, so you'll be training with Rouge and Omega in a simulation as my stand in. Ray you and I will be working one on one to work on your close quarters combat. Sticks you're free to join but once Tails arri-"

Shadow was cut off by Mighty "Woah woah woah, Tails? As in Sonic's lil brother? What's he doin comin over here?"

Raising an eyebrow Shadow crossed his arms "Tails is the head engineer of the research and development team. He makes our gear and weapons. Alright now let's focus."
