Chapter 10: Baking News

"Doctor, construction has been going steady and well, and we have more residents living in Eggman land. Construction has been going so well in fact that me and Sage got the Eggnet up and running." Orbot reported to Dr. Eggman who was reviewing blueprints.

Glancing up from his work to acknowledge Orbot and Sage who were eagerly waiting their next orders "Good job you two. I need you two to establish security while also protecting privacy. Cameras of course, but be sure we're in government protocol."

Just then a yellow robot came barging in the room "Boss Boss! You know that big patch of grass everyone calls a park, well I built something there. I think you're gonna like it~!"

Genuinely curious of what Cubot had constructed, Eggman stood from his seat and followed his service bot outside to the big park in the center of the now built town.

Upon seeing the statue Cubot had built, Eggman couldn't help but let out a small sniffle "Good job Cubot, it's spectacular." Smiling fondly, Eggman wiped away a tear before clearing his throat "I hate to ruin a good moment, but we have work to do." With that Eggman returned back to his office.

Meanwhile in Central City a certain pink hedgehog was getting ready to drive over to Seaside City to meet some friends of hers. Entering her pink buggy she set off listening to her favorite music, today was a big day and she needed all the self encouragement she could get.

The trip from Central City to Seaside City wasn't long, gave Amy more than enough time to practice and recite what she as gonna say to Vanilla "Vanilla, you've been like a mother to me, and I really appreciate this job you offered me. But I wish to pursuit my dream of helping people, by becoming a therapist." Amy shook her head deeming it a bit too wordy, unfortunately she was nearing the bakery already.

Amy parked her buggy and entered the shop. The inside was very warm and welcoming and the aroma of fresh baked goods stuffed the building. There isn't much room for any tables or chairs so customers offended ordered and go.

Amy walked past the counter where the register was and entered the massive kitchen where Vanilla was teaching Charmy how to bake "Good afternoon Vanilla, Charmy. How are you today?"

"Yeah, I'm alright..." Charmy said, not even making eye contact as he poured all his attention and effort into kneading the dough for bread.

Vanilla smiled as she gently patted Charmy on the back then turned her attention to Amy "good afternoon, I'm doing splendid. How are you dear?"

Amy gave Vanilla a weak smile as she gently rubbed her arm "I'm good, but I would like to speak to you in privet please."

Nodding Vanilla took Amy towards the back where there was a small office. Cream was inside the office writing in a note book with a text book propped opened against the computer monitor "Cream, take a break sweetie, Me and Amy need to talk."

Cream looked up from her homework "Okay mom." She packed her stuff and waved at Amy as she exited the offie and into the kitchen "Hey Charmy! Did you finish yet!"

With Vanilla closing the door, the conversation outside became muffled "So Amy, what's on your mind sweetie?"

Amy looked down and inhaled deeply "Vanilla, you've been like a mom to me, you've helped me when times got tough. But I want to do more, I want to go out and help the people of the world. So I applied to become a therapist, I even took online classes and got my certificates."

Vanilla smiled, giggled even "Oh Amy that's wonderful!" Vanilla stood up and pulled Amy into an embrace "I am very proud of you, just remember you have my full support."

Amy smiled as she reciprocated Vanilla's embrace "Thank you so much."

Letting go Vanilla exited the office "So, where will you be working now?"
