About time isn't it?

Link's dad's pov:

I noticed how Shadow Link seemed to be tense as soon as he noticed I was in the room. Also on how he flinched and looked like he was preparing to be hurt when I got close to the bed. And then.... the genuine confusion and shock in his expression when I didn't. Shadow Link isn't any older than my sons. So why does he act like this? 'It may just be an effect of everything he's been through lately.' Vio has been very vague on his experience with Shadow Link so I dismissed it as that.

It took him a good few minutes before actually looking at me again. It was plenty of time to sit down and get semi comfortable. However, I kept my sword close and ready, just in case. Shadow looked at me in shock, but definitely suspiciously. Like he didn't trust that I wasn't going to hurt him. Any other expression was invisible, I only saw those two. 'This.... this isn't something you learn that quickly and get that good. Something like this takes loads of practice, more than he had.' Something more is going on..

Shadow's pov:

I semi recovered from my minor mental breakdown and threw up my shield. I don't trust this guy, I can't trust him. Why hasn't he killed me yet? Does he want to do something simular to Vaati? Then... why send them after me... Ah who am I kidding. They hate me, they want me dead, they want me to suffer. They just must want to see me suffer. Otherwise they'd leave me to Vaati. 'They're just trying to lure you into a sense of false security. You can't fall for that Shadow. Just get better so you can run and leave.'

With that in mind I steeled my resolve and met their Dad's gaze. Making sure he only saw what I wanted him to see, what I can let him see. If I just look emotionless they'll know, I can't. Vio's with them, he knows how I'd normally react. I gotta play smart with this. I didn't look away as their dad searched my gaze, I didn't yield. I completely ignored the hand still perched on my head. And I ignored the concerned look that crossed his face.

"So, you're the Shadow I've heard so much about?" He tried striking a conversation. 'Bitch really? I'm literally fucking mute right now. And I'd prefer if you didn't remind me!' Just for the hell of it, I let my annoyance show, topping it off with an eye roll. 'What can I say. I'm an asshole afterall.' "What's going on?" A new voice joined into the one sided conversation. I looked to see..... Vio.

Vio's pov:

I was more than a little confused when I heard my dad speak. 'Is.... is Shadow awake?' The idea excited me. Despite not sleeping for more than a few days, the idea gave me energy. I sat up to see that I was right. Right infront of me was a fully conscious and slightly ticked off Shadow. "What's going on?" I asked confused about why Shadow was annoyed. "You're friend doesn't seem one for small talk." Dad laughed slightly. "Yeah, he isn't..." My voice trailed off as the gears in my head where turning. 'Something such as small talk wouldn't tick him off like this unless there's something bothering him.. I get he's been through a traumatic experience but still.'

I looked over to Shadow again and instantly recognized what he's doing. I sighed knowing how this is going to go. "Bottling up again Shad?" I asked him, currently ignoring my dad. For the first time since I've been awake, Shadow looked at me. Confirming my worries. Instead of Shadow's normal tornado of emotions, only a few showed through. Signaling that he was hiding the rest. My dad moved slightly close to me. "How can you tell?" He whispered looking at Shadow. Who was currently looking away.

Half of me was tempted to tell him how I knew. But that's not what needed to happen. Shadow's only ever had one parental figure in his life. Doesn't get me wrong, his mother seemed to do great for being a dragon, but a dragon can only do so much. "You'll find out eventually."  I stated, practically making him pay attention to Shadow and his features. Dad sighed in slightly annoyance but didn't press. Giving up for now Dad got up and picked up the others. "I'll leave you two alone to talk then." He said taking the others.

Shadow's pov:

I felt slightly better once their dad left. But being suck with someone who betrayed you isn't much of an improvement. Someone who knows your signs isn't a plus either. I felt Vio stare at me for a moment. "Something's bothering you." He said matter of factly. I rolled my eyes again. 'Yeah no shit Sherlock.' I hate how familiar this feels. I hate the small gut feeling that tells me, I can still trust him. 'He betrayed you and killed you. He can't be trusted.' I reminded myself. I hear Vio sigh, probably from my lack of a response. Then felt and hand on my shoulder. "Shadow.... please stop doing this to yourself. I understand you don't trust us, and that's alright. But you can't just hide everything forever." I squeezed my eyes shut to block off the moisture forming. He said something similar to me before. 'I can't let my guard drop again!'
