CALISTA

I GOT a text from Zane on Friday, telling me that he'll pick me up at nine am Saturday morning so that we can go to the local gym.

I stick on a pair of black leggings and a purple workout tank with a black hoodie over the top. I tie my hair up into a ponytail and fill a bottle of water to take with me.

I never drink enough water.

Zane lets himself in around five to nine, just as I'm tying my shoelaces.

"Morning." He greets and I smile.

"Good morning."

"You ready?" Zane asks and I nod in response. "I just need to pick something up and then we'll go."

He dissapears into his bedroom before he comes back out with a backpack. We walk in a comfortable silence down to his car but as soon as we start driving, memories from my dream flood into my mind as I look at him.

Stop it.

I can feel my face burning red, so I grab my water bottle and start drinking it.

Thirsty bitch.

"Callie?"

"Hm." I reply without looking at him.

"You okay?"

"Yeah I'm just a bit hot." More like you're a bit hot.

Zane one hundred percent doesn't buy my answer but doesn't question me further.

I don't know what wrong with me, I just got out of a long term relationship and I need to learn how to be alone for a while. Doesn't mean I can't look though.

Zane parks the car and we both climb out. As we walk in he starts warning me about a few things.

"The guys here rough and they're not really used to seeing women in this gym so if any of them make you uncomfortable or give you shit, you talk to me and we leave okay?"

"Yeah." I nod, after being with Wyatt I think I'd rather these rough people.

Zane wasn't lying. When we walk into the gym, there's agressive rap music booming and several very scary men doing various violent things around the gym, like lifting probably tripple my body weight and beating the shit out of punching bags that look like they're about to give out.

I find myself hiding behind Zane a little bit and I notice his switch in demeanour, any ounce of niceness he had just a moment ago has dissolved into nothing.

As we walk past everyone to the quiet corner of the gym, I notice everyones attention switches to us in curiosity. I press myself closer to Zane.

I flinch when I hear a loud bang and a hand lands on the small of my back, guiding me forward. "It's okay." He mutters and I let out a shaky breath.
