Nathan Kingston
I'm happy that after our shower together a couple of days ago everything with Ivy and I went back to normal. She doesn't remember that she said she loved me after we went to the bar and I'm not going to push it, I'll let her say it to me when she's ready to do it sober.
But god do I keep replaying her drunken words on a loop in my head.
Especially when she's standing next to me in a little cover-up over her bikini and makes me want to say the words first.
She loops her hand in mine and swings them back and forth as the two of us walk down to one of her family's cabanas on the beach, a beach bag with our towels and other stuff we may need resting on my shoulder.
We couldn't be out here the last two days because of some rain and it's still probably a little too cold for a true beach day but I didn't want her to leave California without completing her bucket list so here we are, pretending it's 80 degrees and sunny rather than 65 and partly cloudy.
"I'm happy we still got to do this, I didn't want Dylan rubbing it in my face that she completed her bucket list and I couldn't." She pouts at the possibility before pulling the curtain back from the cabana.
"I promised that we would complete it." I say with a shrug, trying to hide my smile as I walk into the cabana after her.
I set the beach bag on the ground next to the bed and throw myself down on it, stretching out and getting comfortable while I wait for Ivy to join me. She plops down next to me shortly after, curling into my side like we're about to fall asleep.
"This has been one of the best vacations I've been on, I like having you here." She breaks the silence.
"Yeah, I'd say this was one of my favorites too, you know with all the other vacations I've been on it's a tough decision." I joke.
"Dork." She laughs, slapping me on the chest, "I was trying to have a moment."
"Well, I think even if I had had other vacations this would be my favorite." I say, tucking my arm around her and kissing the crown of her head.
"Much better." She says, snuggling into me further, "I don't ever want to leave."
"Me neither."
We lounge in the cabana all day, eating some of the snacks I brought in the beach bag and taking breaks to run into the freezing cold water and then back to the windshield of the cabana. We play music and take naps curled up into each other with our wet bathing suits and our damp towels as blankets.
Ivy has a sly smile on her face while we walk back from our last time in the water, practically pulling me back up the beach to the cabana.
I know what she wants and she knows what she wants.
