CHAPTER 29: "Pillow Talk" 👊😤

When I arrived at the hotel, I went to the room where my dad and Darby are.

Once I got into the room, I remembered that my dad had something important to tell me so I sat down on a chair while my dad sat on the other chair. Darby was just chilling on his bed, watching us while my dad kept a casual face.

"Now as you may already know, I stated earlier in the arena that show time is almost over for me" said my dad.

I paid close attention while all ears "Yup, that I know" I said while I rested my elbow at the table while holding my head up.

"Alright. Well, there's also something that I'm going to need you to do when I someday no longer work at AEW. Get mad, pout, cry as much as you want but this is important. Since pretty much your future has just been started. Tony also thought that this was a fantastic idea so I figured, why not." He explained.

"What are you getting at, dad?..." I asked curiously and studied my focus on him.

"Let's not beat around the bush, I'm just going to get right into it. Ryan.....When I'm gone from AEW, you will officially take over as Darby's new support system. It's for the best, plus I see a lot of potential for you both in the future of wrestling. The idea of the two of you teaming together will remind me of when I teamed up with Jim Hellwig a long time ago. You two will remind me of The Blade Runners" Steve finally revealed looking over at Darby then back at me.

(The Blade Runners were a tag team of Sting and his friend Jim Hellwig aka The Ultimate Warrior *Rip*)

I became speechless since I now learned that not only I'll be Darby's support system or "cheerleader" but to be his tag partner, I deeply sighed and hung my head low.

Honestly I just wanted to do my own thing in wrestling, I want to achieve the goals that I plan on setting and all of a sudden I have to end up being Darby's "sidekick". This Batman and Robin bullshit.

I'm not all for it but my dad just seemed so adamant about it and also relying on me to do this. I felt so torn up because I respect my dad and wouldn't ever want to disappoint him even further. Not to mention, this is going to be extremely challenging for me to get along with that scrawny bone head if we were to work together in the future.

Surprisingly, I didn't put up a tude with my father or say anything spiteful or throw out any remarks towards Darby.

Steve leaned forward in his seat and spoke "Listen, kiddo. I understand that you don't always see eye to eye with Darby. I didn't make all this possible to torture you at all. I just want you to learn how to be responsible and more humble. Your mother and I raised you better than to be self centered and reckless....That's not like you. I made all this necessary to help you" he explained and pointed then leaned back in his chair.
