𝐓𝐎 𝐒𝐀𝐘 𝐒𝐂𝐀𝐑𝐋𝐄𝐓 𝐂𝐑𝐈𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐋𝐀 𝐖𝐀𝐒 𝐔𝐍𝐁𝐎𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐄𝐃 𝐖𝐀𝐒 𝐀𝐍 𝐔𝐍𝐃𝐄𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐓𝐈𝐌𝐀𝐓𝐄, all she did the entire day of training was sit around and eye everyone's skills and be observant towards specific weapons. She noticed how the careers instantly went for the huge swords and large arrows. They left the small knives━which she believed to be more effective━all alone, perhaps giving her an advantage. What she did not enjoy was Chris fiddling around with everything like a curious child released into the wild.

Once the day had ended and the two exited the training center to approach their mentors and escort them to their apartment, Scarlet's incurious and neutral expression whilst Chris looked utterly defeated.

"Has something happened?" Finnick immediately took to approach the young tribute, "Are you hurt?"

"No," Chris shook his head, "I'm fine." He started to walk away from the scene to his room with his head down, just when Scarlet grabbed his arm.

"You're staying," She reached into her pocket and pulled out a knife, handing it to him, "I'll teach you how to use it."

"But it's your special skill━"

"Chris, no one cares," Scarlet cuts him off, intending to be polite with her soft tone, "I need you alive, you're my ally."

That earned a small smile from the little boy, a true smile that no one had seen him blurt out until now.

"Did you steal a knife?" Finnick wondered.

"You know how much trouble that could get you in, Scarlet?" Anfisa furrowed her brows, running to them, rather slowly in her heels.

Scarlet deadpanned, "What will they do? Kill me before the games? I think not."

As the two tributes sit down, Scarlet takes a deep inhale just to run through where to start.

"Alright, first lesson: Use the pointy end."

"I know which end to use, Scarlet." Chris deadpanned.

The entire evening to midnight, Scarlet gave Chris enough tips to make him learn the absolute basics, and he had gotten pretty good. She taught him how to throw one without it spinning, the different types of grips he would need to think about.

"If you want to attack someone silently and efficiently, slash their neck and not stab. Stabbing works but it could be fatal, something medical can fix it up depending on where it hits." Scarlet tells a very sleepy Chris, "Careful with yourself too, you may think legs and arms won't result in death but if it hits an artery, you're dead in ten minutes."
