"When is it my turn to be on Peeta-watch?" She asked, resting her head against Finnick's chest who was sleeping. Boggs sternly told her not to refer to watching over Peeta as babysitting so she settled on Peeta-Watch.

"Right after Gale." Jackson informed sleepily.

"What time is my watch?" Katniss asked.

Jackson squinted at the Mockingjay in doubt, "I didn't put you in the rotation."

"Why not?"

"I'm not sure you could really shoot Peeta, if it came to it." Jackson stated when speaking about the rotations.

Katniss speaks up, "I wouldn't be shooting Peeta. He's gone. Johanna's right. It'd be just like shooting another of the Capitol's mutts."

"I can't believe you just said that!" Scarlet launched toward her, her inner violence created by the games taking over her improvements. Finnick physically holds her back and she almost felt numb to his touch, skin on fire with anger. "He went through hell and back for you, he gave up his sanity, and you dare to call him a mutt!"

"Scarlet, let it go." Finnick touched her shoulders in an attempt to pull her away from the scene.

Scarlet scoffed slightly at his pull, shoving away his hands as he defeatedly took a step back. "It's not fair, it's not his fault."

"I know, I know that sweetheart."

"Tell them it's not his fault," Her shoulders slumped as she turned to look at Katniss, an unusual resentment dancing in her eyes towards the girl. "Tell me if your roles were reversed, would he be so casually cruel to you, Katniss? Tell me!" She exclaimed, "You have no right."

"Where—where are you going?" Finnick asked, watching Scarlet making her way out.

She didn't spare another glance at anyone, rather pushed everyone out of her way to leave the scene. She heard Gale and Katniss get involved in a hushed conversation.

For a long time, Scarlet had this idea that she was special—that she was a victor destined to do something great, bring a change. But the longer she kept living through rebellion and the cost of it, she hoped she was a normal person. She hoped the no one had to pay the cost of the sort of heartbreak they faced because it was not all so worth it. At least, it didn't seem worth it at the moment.
