𝐀𝐅𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝐀 𝐋𝐎𝐓 𝐎𝐅 𝐍𝐄𝐆𝐎𝐓𝐈𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍, 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐓𝐖𝐎 𝐒𝐄𝐓𝐓𝐋𝐄𝐃 𝐎𝐍 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐅𝐀𝐂𝐓 𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐓 it's best to stay near the water where not everyone would think about coming in the dark considering most districts have little to no water at all. The ocean was probably district four's greatest luxury, she doubted anyone from many other districts would ever have the privilege to watch the sunset over the never-ending ocean.
Chris and Scarlet chit-chattered for a while, forgetting the two were on cameras, after all, no one was around at the moment. Relaxation started to settle in, maybe a bit too well.
As if their voice was attractive, the two heard shuffling noises aiming towards them, approaching fast. "We've to run."
"Go, go," Scarlet ushered him first, and the two started to head towards the forest.
Into the dark.
"Look who we have here, get them!" Someone called.
Scarlet ran. Her chest rose and fell in a panic she'd never quite known before. Her breathing was heavy and she couldn't stop it. Inhale quickly, exhale faster. Exhale. Inhale. Exhale. Her heart battered against her ribcage and her body spiralled in a fear, unlike any other━a consuming, panic-ridden, terrible aching fear.
"Keep running, Chris!" She encourages. They were fast, the careers were faster. "Stop, stop, stop!" She abruptly stopped in her tracks along with her partner.
Chris panted, putting his palms on his knees tiredly, "We can't outrun them."
"Follow my steps," She quickly held onto a large tree nearby, "Just copy what I do, okay?" She stepped onto the rough edge of the tree bank, climbing up. She was sure the two could escape them, after all, they both were small in height.
Out of the corner of her eyes, she saw the careers rushing toward them━Lev and Andy from District One, Justus and Ivy from Two.
"You alright there, Chris?"
"Never been better," He matched her level of sarcasm from earlier as the two climbed a bit more, almost reaching the thick branch they aimed for.
"Well, well, if this isn't the charming diamond of the Capitol!" Ivy called loudly, the four of them seemed to have found this hilarious.
Hopefully, they choke on their own laugh.
"Let's make this Girl in Red a bit more red." Lev chuckled.
