Chapter 5

Toothless was soaring across the ocean with Hiccup and Meryl on his back.

Hiccup: ( to Toothless: ) Okay there, bud, we're gonna take this nice and slow.-

Meryl: ( to Hiccup, honestly: ) It's fun to watch you talk to Toothless. It's very adorable.

Hiccup: ( blushes ) O-okay. Here we go. Here we go...

Meryl then tuned everything out as she felt the ocean breeze on her face, while Hiccup was changing the tail fin position. Meryl then snaps out of it when Hiccup accidentally flies Toothless into a sea stack.

Hiccup: Sorry!

Hiccup accidentally flies Toothless into another sea stack.

Hiccup: That was my fault.

Toothless hits Hiccup with his ear, causing Meryl to laugh.

Hiccup: Yeah, yeah, I'm on it. Position four, uh, three. Yeah! Go baby!

Meryl: ( laughs ) Yes! Woohoo! You're doing it Toothless!

Hiccup: Oh, this is amazing! The wind in my...

The wind blows Hiccup's cheat sheet out of Hiccup's hand.

Hiccup: CHEAT SHEET! STOP!!

Meryl watches Hiccup's diagram fly away as Hiccup tries to catch it, but he accidentally unhooks the safety cord and falls.

Meryl: Hiccup!

Meryl held onto Toothless's saddle as they were falling, Hiccup tried to get back on the saddle, getting smacked with Toothless's tail in the process. Meryl was too panicked to listen to what Hiccup was saying, but once Hiccup finally reattached, the cheat sheet smacks into his face. Hiccup tries to memorize the sheet, but when he sees how scared Meryl looks, he starts smoothly swerving through rocks, swiftly changing tail positions. Meryl calms down and starts to smile as she saw that Hiccup was getting a hand on flying Toothless.

Hiccup: YEEAHHH!

Meryl: ( laughs ) Woohoo!

Toothless shoots a blast of fire and starts flying through it.

Hiccup: Ah, come on.

Meryl: Hope you're fire proof.

Cut to on a sea stack where Hiccup, Meryl, and Toothless are resting. Hiccup looks slightly singed by the fire earlier. Meryl was completely fine and was sitting next to Hiccup with a calm smile. Toothless was eating some fish, and he regurgitated a fish head for Hiccup and Meryl.

Hiccup: Uh... No thanks. We're good.

Meryl then smiled as a flock of Terrible Terrors came to them and tried to steal Toothless's fish. One of them even tried to fight Toothless over a fish, but it loses. It tries to attack, only to be blasted in the mouth by Toothless, causing it to briefly inflate.

Hiccup: Not so fireproof on the inside, are you?

Hiccup tosses the Terror a fish, which it swallows whole.
