There's something about the way you look at me....
Song for the chapter - Stuck on You by Lionel Richie
~ Past ~
"Which one of you is Apo?"
He was absorbed in his research notes. The professor would be giving them pointers on how to write a film review during the afternoon class and he wanted to be ready.
He lifted his head and looked at the two girls standing patiently at their picnic table.
"This is Apo." His classmates pointed.
"Then, this is for you." One of the girls kept a long white envelope in front of him and before Apo could open his mouth, disappeared into the crowd.
"What the fuck was that!" His friends shook their heads and went back to studying.
Apo curiously opened the cover. To his bewilderment, he found a glossy concert ticket inside. It was an out-of-town rock music festival and upon close examination, he saw that Falling Rhythms would be guest performing there. He quickly flipped the ticket around and found something written there in artful calligraphic letters.
Thank you for everything you did for me the other night.
With compliments

Instead of a signature, there was a smiley face drawn at the bottom.
Apo's lips slowly curved up.
Mile hadn't forgotten about him. It's been a couple of months since the incident and already a few weeks into the new semester, Apo hadn't even caught a glimpse of the man. Sometimes he wondered that he had imagined that whole night. Then he would remind himself that his mind was not that creative. Next, he would go through his collection of photos featuring Mile. All of them were taken during concerts and shows except one.
Apo didn't feel ashamed of snapping a quick photo while Mile slept across his bed. He looked so vulnerable and beautiful that he couldn't help himself. Then there was that little post-it saying 'thank you' with a smiley face at the bottom. When Apo woke up late the next morning, Mile had already left his condo, leaving that thank you note. Those were all the clues that that night really did happen.
Now Mile had sent a ticket for their latest show. Apo was feeling sad that he wouldn't be able to go to Falling Rhythms shows as he previously used to. His parents had gifted him a new professional camera during the break he didn't have the heart to ask for extra money to buy concert tickets. He picked up a couple of photography gigs and earned a few extra bucks but that wasn't much. He was seriously running low on cash.
