I woke up the next day with a pounding headache, light coming through the curtains and interrupting my sleep. Everything rushed back to me with a force, the wine, the weird kiss with Garreth. Sebastian lurking in the shadows.

The brown owl was back at my windowsill with another letter, tapping loudly on the glass. I creaked the window open lazily from my bed, letting her drop the parchment. I didn't have any treats this time so she pecked at my hand instead.

"Ow!" I squealed, shooing her away.

I opened the note. It had 3 words written in loopy cursive.

Undercroft tonight, 8pm.

I'd recognize that handwriting anywhere.

Sebastian.

My heart skipped a beat, then two, accentuating the extra acid in my stomach from the wine last night.

Incredibly nauseous, I went to the sink to splash water on my face. Thankfully professors had their own private bathroom and I could recover without prying eyes.

Sebastian saw Garreth and I kissing last night and now he wants to talk. Was it out of jealousy, anger? Or did he finally want to break this unbearable silence between us?

I drew myself a bath, filling the tub with warm water and iridescent bubbles. Stripping down, I climbed in, settling into the curve of the porcelain that was practically made for my body.

I closed my eyes, trying to drown out the headache thumping at my temples. A moment from sixth year enveloped my mind.

Ominis and I sat on opposite ends of the green velvet couch in the bustling Slytherin common room. We were quizzing each other for our Potions test tomorrow.

"Okay, so how do you prepare an Ashwinder egg and what can you brew with it?" Ominis fired off.

"You crack open a tiny hole and slowly let the insides pour into the cauldron. If you do it too fast, it dissolves," I fired back, "and you can make liquid luck, Erudus potion, and....a love potion."

"Liquid luck...?" He wanted me to say the correct potion name, as would Professor Sharp.

"Liquid luck," I racked my brain, "Fel-Felix? Oh! Felix Felicis!" I smiled, my studying had paid off. "Now you, Ominis. What is Bezoar used for and how..." My attention turned to a pretty fifth year girl, who had just laughed loudly at whatever Sebastian said to her.

Her cheeks blushed as she tossed her long blonde hair over her shoulder. I rolled my eyes at the painfully obvious flirty gesture. It wasn't abnormal for Sebastian to receive attention from other girls, he was handsome, annoyingly so. But we were just friends, so I shouldn't care. Even if it seemed we both started leaning towards having feelings for each other, I wanted him to make the first move, if a move was to be made.

"Gianna..." Ominis said quietly as he noticed my silence, leaning closer to me, "I know I can't see what's going on but I can hear Clara Moore laughing at what I assume are Sebastian's jokes?" He wanted me to confirm his suspicions.

"You're very observant," I said, gritting my teeth, my quill bending in my tight grip. "Ugh Merlin, Ominis do they have to do this right here?" The words left my lips before I could filter them out.

Sebastian said something else and she laughed again, lightly brushing his arm and inching closer, her posture leaning towards him. She looked up into his eyes with an alluring stare, one that I was positive would end up with them kissing. It was no secret that he was the most sought-after boy in school but most girls weren't so bold.
