Chapter 13: First salary

Next day in the car they didnot talk much. They both were feeling different feelings than usual morning. So thought to keep it professional..

M: Veer when is the meeting today..

V: 3 PM..

he paused..

V: dont skip your lunch..

she looked at him..

M: dont worry

they reached office.. and both got busy in work..

Afternoon meeting was conducted and Mishti was about to present. She entered the meeting room before to setup the things. There was some connections she was struggling with..

Veer entered..

V: all good?

M: hmm..

V: let me help you..give me your laptop..

They setup the laptop..

M: thanks..

V: had lunch?

Mishti smiled and nodded..

V: better.. because I am not going to carry you if you faint during your presentation due to over working and not eating.. he smirked..

M: you don't need to..

V: better..

V: I wonder how a foody girl can skip food ?

M: it is all about priorities.. 

V: so what are your priorities.. work, food, family?

Before she could answer Rey and ayaan started coming in... and Veer settled in his chair..

R: so Dr. Khanna ready?

V: born ready ..is not it? he smirked..

M: you doubt..

V: hahaha.. I will see today..

V: she doesnot need it Ayaan.. she knows she is the best.. Right Dr. Khanna?

M: If I don't believe I am the best how will you believe I am the best Mr. Oberoi?.. 

V: fair enough.. he smiled..

A: Rey  finally someone we got of Veer's type.. who can disobey him and challenge him.. nice combination..

R: shut up..

A: you know I am right..

Others started coming and Veer gestured to start the presentation and Mishti started..

She presented all the details of the experiments performed by her and the data analysis..

V: Impressive.. anyway I am not surprised.. I expected this only.. So Dr. Khanna since this is your idea.. you will head the project others will help you..because no one can do it without your help..

M: okk..I will..

V: and everyone.. this project we need to complete in 8 months..so take your time and work on it.. but don't do overwork that you will faint here itself.. It is not my responsibility.. he looked at her.

A: yes. and we can have meeting every week Friday 3 pm. and good advise Veer.. and Dr. Khanna this advice is applicable to you also.. any way great job..

V (in mind) for her only.

They all dispersed and started working..

Evening they both went back together.. and now it was more of their regular routine so it doesnot bother both..

Almost 20 days passed after the meeting.. So the salary day came and it was Friday.and the weekend.. Since Mishti got her first salary few of her colleague asked her to give treat in the evening.. 

M: I will give you on Monday lunch time.. today I have to meet some old friend so..

In the evening..

in car:

M: so I got my first salary today..

V: obviously I know.. because I only signed the cheque.. he smiled..

M: so the pending treat.. are you free today..?

V: no..I have a bit work today

M: ok..

V: We can go tomorrow.. anyway tomorrow is holiday right..?

M: what about your work..?

V: priorities.. shifting to food for one day..he smiled..of course if you are free tomorrow..

M: actually Arnav asked me to to go to his house this weekend.. 

V: hmm.. no problem.. then later you can give treat to me..

M: it's ok.. I can cancel that...

V: or tell him to join us..

Mishti looked at Veer..

V: fine if you are not comfortable.. I will not force you..

M: I thought you would be uncomfortable.. because you dont know him..and he is a bit irritating.. and can get into your nerves..

Veer smiled.. 

V: you seem to be very close to him and know him so well..

M: he is my best friend.. that day I met him only..

V: ok..

M: are you sure you can manage with him.. ?

V: hmm.. I think so.. we can go for bowling then dinner.. call him there..

M: I don't know bowling.. 

V: you will learn.. and you are giving treat..so I will choose wherever I want it..

M: fine.. let me check with him

Mishti called Arnav

M: arnav.. can you guys come tomorrow at Planet bowl.. actually we planned the weekend.. and I got my first salary.. and you are my only friend here.. so thought to plan the saturday if you are free..

Ar: stop all your formalities.. we will be there..

M: ok

Mishti got ready in her formals..and for the first time she saw Veer is coming out in casual shirts and jeans..and was looking handsome..

V: you are looking good.. but is not this too formal for bowling...he smiled..

M: ok..fine..I will wear something casuals.. I havenot wear it for so long..

She wore a crop top and jeans with sneakers

V: perfect..

M: what?

V: the dress..for bowling and you are looking different..

She tugged her hair with the clutcher, used lip gloss and they left..

In car:

V: did you talk to him?

M: yes.. he is coming..

They reached the arena.. and was waiting for Arnav.. and suddenly he came and gave a bone crushing hug to Mishti..

Ar: I love you.. I missed you already..

Veer frowned..

V: excuse me? who are you?
