First meetings

It had now been 3 months since I had officially joined S.H.I.E.L.D.

I was in the training room, punching the punching bag as I replayed my first conversation with Nick Fury.

"How do you know who I am?" I asked after I sat down.

"A 20 year old girl who escaped HYDRA? Not something I would want to miss out on." He said after sitting down in front of me.

"How did you know I had any interest whatsoever in S.H.I.E.L.D.?" I asked him.

"Like I said, you had just escaped HYDRA. By what I know, I assumed you would want to destroy them. Thankfully for us, that's exactly what S.H.I.E.L.D. wants to do. One of the things at least." He explained.

"Yeah, I know. I read about that on the file you gave Dave." I said as I leaned back on my chair, with crossed arms.

"How do you know it was me who gave him the file?" He asked me curious.

"Weren't you?" I asked him a raised eyebrow.

After he told me he was the one that sent Dave towards me, I just assumed everything he gave me on S.H.I.E.L.D. was everything Nick Fury wanted me to know.

"You know what I think, Ms. Mendes?" He asked me as he leaned back on his chair with a grin on his face. "I think you would be a great addition to S.H.I.E.L.D."

"You want me to join?" I asked slightly wide eyed. "Just like that?"

"If I didn't want you in, you would not be here." He told me. "And what else is there to know? You know HYDRA from the inside, perhaps even know them better than we do... I also assume they gave you a special ability?"

I nodded my head.

"May I ask what that is?" He asked.

"Telekinesis, mind reading, and mind control." I told him.

"Are you a good fighter?" He asked me.

"I wouldn't be alive if I wasn't." I said with a small smile.

"Okay..." He said nodding his head slowly. "What do you know about the Avengers initiative?"

"Wasn't that those guys who saved New York from the flying robot monsters?" I asked with furrowed eyebrows.

"Precisely." He said with a short nod, leaning closer on the table. "What would you say about joining them?"

"You want me to be an Avenger?" I asked with a raised eyebrow, trying to understand his intentions clearly.

Joining S.H.I.E.L.D. was a thing, joining the Avengers was another one.

"Someone with your skill set would be a great addition to the team. We have no one like you." Fury clarified. "So, what do you say, Ms. Mendes?"

"Well, that depends." I said leaning on the table, copying him. "If I join... will it help take down HYDRA?"

"I like to believe it will."

After that talk, I joined S.H.I.E.L.D. He didn't want to introduce me to all the Avenges until it was time. In the meantime, I got to meet only Clint and Natasha. They were pretty great, and pretty much the only friends I had.

"Someone's angry today." I heard Clint comment behind me.

I stopped punching the bag and smiled at him.

"I guess it's just one of those days." I said as he started to walk towards me.

"Have you told her yet?" Nat asked as she made her way in the room.
