I woke up in a strange room with a huge headache.

"How you feeling?" I heard Steve ask me.

I was laying down in a mattress in an almost empty and dirty room. I had no idea what happened or where we were. I looked up too see Steve leaning against the doorway, staring at me.

"What happened? Where are we?" I asked as I sat up, but was stopped by my huge headache.

"Easy... easy." Steve said as he hurried to me. "Answer me first, how are you feeling?"

"Confused." I stated as if it was obvious. "And with a fucking headache." I said, making him crack a smile.

"Good to know the sense of humor is still there." He said with a soft smile.

"Always." I said, matching his smile. "Now answer me. All I remember is holding the helicopter, and now waking up here. So, explain."

Steve sighed as he sat down on the mattress next to me.

"Your powers gave up." That made me look at him wide eyed. I never overused my powers in the missions, so I was baffled that something like that had happened. "Bucky and I were about to fall, but you were grabbing us... I guess you overused your powers, because the next thing I know, you collapse, and we're all falling to the river. Bucky hit his head on the helicopter, so I pulled you out, since you were both knocked out."

"Alright..." I said trying to process what he had just told me. "Where are we?"

"In a storage room Sam found out. No one has tracked us yet, so I'd say were safe." Steve said reassuringly.

"Good." I said with a tired nod.

"However... please don't use your powers so soon. You need to recover and recharge." Steve said softly.

"Fine, I won't." I said in a slightly annoyed tone, even though I found sweet how he was looking out for me. "Where are Sam and Bucky?"

"In the room next door. I left Sam looking after Bucky while I came to check on you." Steve explained.

"You sure that was a good idea?" I asked Steve with a raised eyebrow, making him crack another smile.

"Bucky is still unconscious. And handcuffed to the wall, so." He shrugged. I nodded, signaling that in those conditions it wasn't a bad move. "Sam and I were talking, and we think Zemo did something to Bucky's brain."

"I know." I stated, making him look at me confused. "When Zemo was talking to me, he said that it was a shame I didn't have any special words for them to access my brain. I can only assume he did that with Bucky."

"We're gonna need to find a way to stop those words to change him. And most importantly, we have to find out for how long those words have been being used." Steve said with a serious.

"Let's go check, shall we?" I suggested as I slowly got up, so I wouldn't get an even bigger headache.

Once we got to the other room, Sam gave me a side hug.

"Good to see you awake. Sleeping is not a good look on you." He teased.

"Don't worry, you're no sleeping beauty either." I said as I sent a sarcastic smile, making nod with a smile.

As if on cue, Bucky started to wake up. Steve and I couldn't help but tense up. After all, we had no idea which Bucky would be there.

The first he noticed as he opened his eyes was that his metallic arm was stuck, enabling him to move. Bucky groaned as he tried to release his arm.

Sam cleared his throat, making Bucky look up at us. Once he saw us, he eased up.

"Steve." He said looking at his old friend. "Marianne." He said acknowledging me, but paid no attention to Sam, who just rolled his eyes.
