About a year later...

I was with my team in a mission in Lagos. I was sitting down on a table outside a café with Wanda and Nat in two other different tables. Wanda was still getting used to the whole mission thing. It was more than understandable. This was her first big mission. Even though it had been tough, she had been training really hard. I was just excited to see her in action with us.

"Alright, what do you see?" Steve asked over the comms.

"Standard beat cops. Small station. Quiet street. It's a good target." Wanda told him.

"There's an ATM on the south corner, which means?" Steve asked.

"Cameras." Wanda stated.

"Both cross streets are one-way." Steve informed.

"So, compromised escape routes." Wanda concluded.

"Means our guy doesn't care about being seen. He isn't afraid to make a mess on the way out." Steve stated. "You see that Range Rover halfway up the block?"

"Yeah, the red one? It's cute." Wanda said as Nat and I looked at the car, carefully not to draw attention to us.

"It's also bulletproof." Nat told her. "Which means private security... which means more guns... which means more headaches for somebody. Probably us."

"He's got nothing to lose." I pipped in as I took a sip of my coffee.

"You guys know me and Mari can move things with our minds, right?" Wanda asked casually.

"And yet it still doesn't mean we got this in the bag." I told her.

"Looking over your shoulder needs to become second nature." Nat added.

"Anybody ever tell you you're a little paranoid?" Sam asked us.

"Not to our faces." Nat shrugged.

"Why? Did you hear something?" I asked sarcastically as I shared a grin with Nat.

"Eyes on target, folks." Steve pipped in. "This is the best lead we've had on Rumlow in 6 months. I don't want to lose him."

Sam scoffed.

"If he sees us coming, that won't be a problem. He kinda hates us." Sam said.

"He should hate us. It means that he knows who's gonna end him." I said bitterly.

"Don't let your emotions cloud your actions. We need you sane and logical." Steve told me.

Steve was hiding in a building next to us, and Sam was on a rooftop of another building. Both of them could watch over us and act as soon as needed.

"Sam." Steve called. "See that garbage truck? Tag it."

Since us girls were sitting down at the esplanade of the café, we could not see it.

"That truck's loaded for max weight." Sam told us after a few seconds. "And the driver's armed."

"It's a battering ram." Nat stated.

"Go now." Steve ordered.

"What?" Wanda asked nervously.

"He's not hitting the police." Steve said quickly.

The truck ended up crashing and breaking the entrance of the Institute for Infectious Diseases. A second truck full of armed men arrived. Sam ended up grabbing Steve, allowing him to deal with them. Or try to, at least.
