"You understand the rules, correct?" Clint asked as he stared at me.
I was with Steve on the ring as we circled each other.
"Yes, Clint. I know the rules." I said with a hint of annoyance as if the rules weren't the same every time.
"You heard that? None of that mind juju thing that you do." Tony said pointing at me from besides Clint, who was standing next to the rest of the Avengers outside the ring.
"Tony, are you purposely defending Steve's interest?" I asked with a sarcastic surprised tone.
"Oh, please." Nat scoffed. "We made a bet."
"You bet on my downfall, Stark?!" I asked wide eyed.
"Honey, the guy is a super soldier from the 40s, alright?" Tony said pointing at Steve.
"Thank you?" Steve said unsure.
"And she is a Midguardian with mind powers. What's your point, Stark?" Thor asked as he crossed his arms.
"For a genius, that seems just dumb." Bruce said with the same expression.
"But she can't use them. What's your argument now, huh?" Tony asked with raised eyebrows.
"You know, technically, if I can't use my powers, Steve can't use his super senses. As in strength and velocity." I pointed out.
"She has a point." Nat said amused.
"No. No-"
"It does seem fair that way." Steve agreed.
"But." I said looking at Tony. "I will allow it. I can win either way."
"Aren't you a little cocky for someone about to fight a super soldier?" Tony asked me with a raised eyebrow.
"Do you remember nothing from last week?" Bruce asked him, recalling when I fought him and won within 30 seconds.
It had now been a month and a half since I had joined the Avengers. I could now proudly call them friends. I felt like I could ask any of them for help, and they would be there. Even Tony, even though half the time it didn't look like it.
"I was- distracted." Tony said, trying to cover up the embarrassment.
"Sure." Nat nodded sarcastically.
"She was trained by HYDRA for 7 years. I think she can handle super soldier Steve." Clint stated.
"Less chitchat and more action!" Thor urged.
"Are you ready?" Steve asked me, carefully.
"Oh, please. I wasn't the one stuck in ice for 70 years." I said, making him grin slightly.
"It was 66 actually-"
"Oh, my God. Just fight!" Tony exclaimed.
Steve and I got in positions, and I gave him an affirmative nod for him to start. As Steve reluctantly came at me, I swerved of every hit. When he was about to punch me, i punched him in the stomach. While he was distracted, I pulled his ankle with my foot making him fall. When he was down, I took the opportunity to quickly turn him around and place his arms behind his back as I sat on his legs, trapping him.
"That's my girl!" Nat said proudly.
"Told you." Bruce said as in-a-matter-of-fact way.
"Do you surrender?" I asked Steve, a smile present on my face.
"I very much do." He said after thinking if there was anything he could do.
"Good." I said as I got up proudly.
