It's 3am, and the Fox Family has just come back in from their nightly patrols. It's 5 of them in total, so they are able to compass the entirety of Bludhaven on most nights. Generally speaking, patrols are uneventful - a mugging here, an attempted robbery there. Just enough to keep the citizens Bludhaven safe and our heroes battle ready. Luke enters the Fox Den in his Batwing suit (he insists the only Batcave is in Gotham) and is greeted by the familiar voice of this father Lucious  or, more precisely, the A.I created by his father which was once confined to his Batwing armor but, now has been expanded to run the entire den. "Greetings, Batwing. I trust you had a successful night.". Luke responds, "Yes, Father, I did. Please analyze the footage from tonight.".

As he speaks, Jace (The Batman) enters thru the secret off road entrance with Duke (The Signal) and Tiffany (Batgirl) following on their respective Batcycles and Sophie (Batwoman) descends thru the hanger deck in the Batplane.

Sophie, who after Ryan was abducted by the red streak 5 years ago, realized there was no one left to aid Luke in protecting Gotham had an unquenchable thirst to do more.

The consideration that almost crippled her was the thought that Ryan had earned the right to be called Batwoman, so how could Sophie just jump in the suit like Ryan never existed?

Three years after her disappearance, Ryan was declared legally dead. The team later discovered that Ryan left living will expressing the desire for Sophie to continue the burden of protecting Gotham should she meet her demise.

In the letter, Ryan states that Sophie is the Batwoman Gotham always deserved, and she was just holding the spot until Sophie was ready. With this news, Sophie understood that the only way to honor Ryan was to take up the mantle, always intending to give it back should Ryan ever return. However, the first night Sophie donned the Batwoman suit, she intrinsically knew that this was the very thing that everything in her life prepared her for. This was her calling. She was Batwoman!

Back in the Den, the team sits around the large circle table to begin their nightly patrol debrief. Jace removes his cowl, sits it on the table, and starts the conversation."Tonight was different. The criminals seemed more organized than I've ever seen them." Duke chimes in "Agreed, when pressed, one thug revealed that he worked for someone named Fish"

"Analysis complete" the Lucius A.I. announces, "The Bat-Team stopped 16 attempted robberies, 10 home invasions, and 3 muggings this evening. The mysterious figure going into Club Aquaria is identified as Marquis Jett"
