Dan waved to Tesa, then quickly shut his door. Once it was closed, he slid down to the floor.

"What just happened," he groaned.

"Dan? Is that you?" A voice called out.

"Oh, uh, hi, mom," Dan waved as she saw him.

She looked at him, eyes full of concern. "What are you doing on the floor? And more importantly, why are you home so late? It's nearly eight!"

Dan took a deep breath. "Kylie met a new kid and she asked me to show him around (Dan saw his mom's eyes light up at the mention of 'him') and then Tesa joined us and Jace was there (his mom frowned) and we all ended up talking and having a good time." Dan prayed she wouldn't somehow find out about his flashback. He'd told her once before, and she'd nearly made him start seeing a therapist. So he kept it quiet now.

"Well that's nice. So who was this friend? What's his name? Do you want to invite him over? Tomorrow is Sunday, so I'm sure we can arrange something."

Dan chuckled as his mom rambled on. "His name is Phil. I'm going to take a shower, okay? I'll come down and eat something after."

He could still hear his mom talking to herself as he scrambled upstairs.

Once he got to his room, Dan flopped onto the bed. He pulled his phone, and saw Kylie had messaged him.

Kylie: Hey, Dan, u okay?

He quickly typed back. Kylie was just the person he wanted to talk to right now. Tesa was his best friend, but Kylie was basically his older sister. She had great advice.

Dan: Yeah.

Dan: I'm assuming you heard?

Kylie: Yep. Do u think it had something to do with phil? Maybe he used to know her

Dan: What?

Kylie: What else could have triggered it?

Dan: jace, maybe. I don't think it had anything to do with phil...

Kylie: okay... speaking of Phil, he's pretty cute, isn't he?

Dan: is he? I didn't notice

Kylie: suuuuuure

Kylie: you keep telling yourself that, and maybe one day you'll start believing it

Dan: i'm going now, need to shower

Kylie: a cold shower?

Dan: -.-

He laughed and tossed his phone on his bed.

After Dan had showered, he clambered downstairs for something to eat. His mom had left out some pizza. Dan ate that before going back upstairs.

He stopped at his mom's room. "Hey mom?"

"What is it, honey?"

How do you tell someone you like them? How can you express the things you feel just by looking at them? Why do I feel this way about AmazingPhil?

But he couldn't say any of that. "Where's Adrian?"

"Over at a friends. He wanted to spend the night tonight, and I thought he could use some fun." She smiled at Dan. "I'm glad you had fun with your friends. But I wish you'd tell me more about Phil."

Dan could feel himself blushing. "W-What do you want to know?"

His mom patted the bed next to her. "For one thing, why you turn red when I say his name." She laughed when she saw Dan's expression. "I'm kidding! Just tell me what he's like."

Dan reluctantly went over and sat down. I know way more about Phil than I should. I mean, I've only watched every video of his ten times.

"Go on," his mom prompted.

And before he knew it, Dan was telling her about Phil, how funny he was, how he cared about people he barley knew, the way he could break up a fight.

That night, he left his mom's room feeling a lot better. But he was even happier when he saw Phil had posted a new video.
