"Y/N!" I hear a familiar voice shout out behind me as I feel warm arms wrap around from behind me.

"Anne!" I smiled, turning to face her as I gave her a proper hug. It's been two months since I last saw her. She looked the same but a little fuller in the cheeks as she wore her house colors. Yellow always looked so lovely on her. Struggling to catch up I see Sebastian quickly making his way to us.

"Fuck—" Sebastian mutters out of breath as he pauses for a moment to catch it. "I never knew you could walk that fast." He chuckles to his sister and smiles big when he sees me. "Y/N! It's been too long." He pulls me into a hug and I gladly embrace him. Even though it's only been two months. He was right; it felt too long. Even longer for me being alone in the castle all summer.

"I know." I smiled in the hug and pulled away to look at him. He was taller than last year and had grown more into his body. He was muscular and had the scent of honey and the summer breeze to him. His eyes were just as light brown with a twinkle in them. Although I was happy to see them both, my mind couldn't help but wonder where Ominis was.

"Where's Ominis?" I questioned as he always spent his summers with the Sallow twins.

"He had family matters to attend to a week ago. I'm sure we will see him soon." Anne frowned at the comment on his family and looked around for him.

"I'm sure he's just lost like always." Sebastian chuckles looking with her for him.

The hall was filled with students all reuniting with their friends and the sound of chatter echoed against the walls as they all discussed their summer.

"I'm sure we will see him at our table. Hopefully he will see us—" Sebastian is cut off with a jab to his side from Anne. "What?"

"You know Ominis is blind." She scolds him nicely.

"I know, that's why I said that." He chuckled, earning a glare from his sister. I couldn't help but smile, having missed the two's bickering. Soon a bell rang and it was time for us to take our seats so the Headmaster could welcome everyone to a new year and sort the new first years into their houses.

"I'll see you after!" Anne smiled, giving me another hug and soft wave to her brother as she ran off to join her house. While me and Sebastian walked to our table and sat waiting for the start of a new year.

"How was your summer Y/N?" Sebastian smiled as he sat next to me fiddling with the sleeve of his robe. I'm sure super 'excited' for the long hour welcoming from the professors.

"It was as good as it could be." I shrug.

"You know you can always come spend your summer with Anne, Ominis and I." He looked at me. I knew I could, but part of me found it hard to be around Ominis for too long. Since our fourth year I realized I liked him more than as a friend. Merlin knows it's hard to control my feelings. I didn't want to ruin anything between us as we've always been just friends. I would have loved to spend my whole summer with him, but the past two years it's been harder for me to be around him. Especially when I feel so deeply for him.

"I know Sebastian. I just had a lot of spells to practice and I'd rather be ahead in my studies." I half heartedly lied.

"Is that all you ever think about?" He playfully rolls his eyes at me. "We all know you're already top of the class, you gotta let loose and have fun."

I stare at him with a blank expression as I'm not assumed by his comment. "Oh shut up."

"You know I'm right." He nudges me and has that same smirk on his face as always.

"Okay, okay next summer I'll come with you three to Feldcroft." I give in, hoping he would forget by the time next summer comes around.

"I'll hold you to that." He mutters as the hall starts to quiet down.

Tapping on a glass can be heard as Headmaster Black stands at the podium waiting for everyone to settle.

"Welcome back to another year of Hogwarts. I trust you all had a nice summer and are ready to start another year..." Black spoke as he continued on his normal welcome he does every year with a few new updates on the upcoming year. Sebastian and I sat there bored as he went on and on for about twenty minutes before introducing the new first years. Yet I couldn't help but wonder where Ominis was.

"Ashley Shayfield!" One of the Professors called as a shy student slowly walked up to the chair to be sorted into her house.

"I'm guessing Ravenclaw" Sebastian whispered in my ear as he watched the girl take a seat. Every year we would try to guess which house they would be sorted in. At the end we would tally up who got the most wrong and they would have to buy a round of butter beer for the group. Although Anne didn't sit next to us she was always happy to get a free drink out of our little side bet. It made the painfully slow sorting ceremony go by quickly.

"Mmm Gryffindor." I whispered back.

"HUFFLEPUFF" the Sorting Hat shouted and we both groaned through the Hufflepuff's cheers, as we both got it wrong.

"Damn." Sebastian pushed his brows together, annoyed he got it wrong. Which almost every year he would be the one to buy us all a round. Except our third year, when I lost. He was so smug about it, Ominis and I thought about Obliviating him because of it. I chuckled to myself ready for the next student.

Even though I was enjoying my time with Sebastian I couldn't help but worry over the thought.

Why wasn't Ominis here?

The first years continued to be sorted into their houses as Sebastian and I continued to guess. It wasn't long till the last student was called up.

"Andrew Patfold!" The Professor shouted as the last student walked up to the chair. Surprisingly, Sebastian and I were tied in our score. I looked at Sebastian who was intensely focused; trying to study everything about the kid who was sitting on the chair.

"Gryffindor." He said. So sure of himself, that he made the right choice.

I looked at the young boy as he fidgeted with his fingers between his thighs, looking around at everyone. He seemed shy. It reminded me a lot of myself when I was in the same situation in my first year. Staring at the boy, I could sense his anxiety, but I sensed ambition. It was hard for me to explain, but I could feel it. He may have been scared but the power within him was radiating.

"Slytherin." I said with confidence, which earned a raised eyebrow from Sebastian.

"No way someone like him will be placed in Slytherin." He muttered, shaking his head with a cheeky grin as he felt in his heart he had won.

Everyone waited in anticipation for the hat to make its choice. When it shouted.

"Slytherin!" I clapped my hands and cheered along with all the other students, as Sebastian was shocked.

"What in the name of Merlin?!" His face in utter disappointment that he lost another year to our silly game. I had the biggest smile as he shook his head in disbelief. "How do you win almost every year? What's your secret?" He questioned me as I shoved him lightly with my shoulder.

"Well that concludes our welcoming ceremony, I trust you will all be friendly with open arms to your new housemates. Let's have another amazing year here at Hogwarts!" The Headmaster closed the sorting ceremony and dismissed everyone.

I walked with Sebastian to our common room to help him re-settle in. The door formed as we stood in front of it lined up with other students and walked down the stairs. The common room was filled with familiar faces and some new ones.

"This view never gets old." Sebastian smiled walking to the giant windows that showed the underwater of the Black Lake. The water was clear. You could see a few Grindylows swim by and the algae growing on the edges of the windows. It was beautiful. "I know the Mermaids are just dying to meet the new first years." He chuckled as a few first year students looked out the window.

"There are Mermaids?" They looked at him then back out the windows with excitement.

"Yeah. I seen them a few times. They will even swim right up to the glass." He said in a tone they couldn't tell was sarcastic.

"Oh Sebastian, will you stop messing with the first years. That stupid little joke is getting old don't you think?" A voice I know all too well says behind me.
