After I was fully healed, I continued my studies and detention with Sebastian. Since the incident in the forest, they had us doing manual labor and helped start setting up decorations for the Yule Ball.

It was tedious but sitting there creating glass orbs filled with snowflakes, folding napkins and ironing sheets got me excited.

Sebastian and I's relationship has been on the rocks, which didn't bother me after our rondeau in the Prefect's bathroom. We were still close, but it wasn't the same. I could tell he was hurt by the fact I didn't feel the same way towards him and honestly it worried me that he was plotting something.

Once my detention was served, I spent all my time with Anne, Gareth and Natty. While Ominis was nowhere to be seen. We would make small talk in our classes, but that was it. It broke my heart, considering I spilled my true feelings. Yet I don't blame him — after all I was still 'dating' Sebastian even though I confessed I didn't love him.

I felt like I was losing them both, but today was the day of the ball.

I managed to talk the entrance to the Hufflepuff common room into letting me in, so I could get ready with Anne.

I sat on the edge of her four poster bed as she did her best to style my hair. I admired all the plants in the room. Their rooms were a lot cozier, with wooden edged windows and bright rugs. A lot of rugs. The afternoon sun streamed in through the window, causing patches of sunlight to catch on my skin — warming me up in the otherwise cool air. I noticed it was a lot warmer here than in the Slytherin common room, but at least we had the enchanted fires there to heat it.

"Are you nervous for tonight?" She asked me as she put decorative crystals into my Y/H/C hair.

"Umm a little bit." I fiddled with the fabric of my dress, pinching the soft shimmery fabric between my fingers. It caught the sunlight, reflecting little pearlescent stars.

"I am too." She said, fiddling with my hair some more.

"Don't be nervous, you get to finally dance with Isaac." I teased and she blushed.

"That may be true, but he gives me butterflies and makes me feel sick whenever he is near." She admitted nervously.

I giggled a little at her obvious crush. "It's called love!" I smiled as she finished putting the last touches to my hair.

"Is that what that feeling is? Because if so, I hate it." She laughed fixing her own dark brown hair.

"It's awful huh?" I watched her fix her bangs in the mirror. She brushed them with her fingers. Her pale fingers looked so gentle as she delicately fussed over her hair.

"Very." She looked gorgeous as she was fully dressed up for tonight's event. Her hair was tied into a braided bun, with baby's breath entwined in that matched her dress and the blush complemented her pale skin so nicely.

I stood up and looked over myself in the mirror at the work she did on my hair. It was down and the crystals shone brightly in the afternoon light. The dress was even more beautiful than I remember in the shop. Mr Hill must have worked hard to make sure it fit me perfectly. My make up was subtle and made my eyes stand out.

She glanced at me — admiring her work. "If there was a prize for best dressed I'm sure we would win! If only Ominis could see how beautiful you looked." She smiled with a somber tone in her voice.

During the days before the ball I told her the truth of my feelings towards Sebastian and Ominis, or realistically I cried telling her. Sebastian and I still planned to go together with Ominis and I dreaded how the night would go once I am with them both.
