You didn't go to eight by choice.

Either you had to go there, You were born there or you were running from something.

Niki was running.

Was it a bad idea for a ten year old girl to be running into the poorest district alone and at top speed. 

Probably not.

Did she care.

Definite no.

Massive mega, ultra no.

 Not every day you witness the Syndicate  casually strolling into your not so lovable home and murdering your father right in front of you.

Not like she cared about him, the man was either always angry, always drunk or a mix of both so he wasn't much of  'dad'. No, she was more concerned about the crazed murderers who could potentially  be following her, so yes she legged it from her little house in sixth, and yes she was exhausted, but she was not dying today.

So you can imagine when she heard the beating of wings behind her she started praying to be allowed into whatever heaven was out there.

But, sadly for the villain she was stubborn and no way in hell was she going down easy. Grabbing a piece of  broken glass from the floor, she faced the Villain in front of her. 

Thanatos. 

His very name could make the halls of the hero tower silent. 

His touch made the strongest of men crumble.

His wings signalled the arrival of death itself.

And Niki was planning to kill him with a small shard of glass.

She was so screwed.

The villain landed on the ground and she gripped the glass even harder.

"Hello there little one." His voice made her want to run away screaming, but she didn't let it show.

"S-stay back! I'm not afraid of you!" She tried to sound intimidating but her voice trembled. 

The villain laughed, a laugh that sent shivers down her spine.

"Stubborn, you remind me of my son."

Son?

Why would he tell her such a personal detail unless-

Oh no.

He was going to kill her.

"Stay away! I'll- I'll use my power on you!"

Niki wasn't allowed to use her power at home, her father forbid nay use of powers. Her brother's powers were so powerful, one day he lost control and-

Powers were forbidden.

That's all you need to know.

"Power you say?" The villain stepped closer.

"Stay back!" she screamed pipes burst all around them filling the small alleyway with water.

She hadn't meant to do it. Really she was never actually planning to use her powers on the villain. But he stepped forward so suddenly, it surprised her she really hadn't meant too.

Water sprayed at Thanatos forcing him to step back.

As quick as it came the water stopped spraying, receding slowly into drains.
