The party is over.
People have left, leaving Luke and Calum behind... as well as Aria, Sade, and Michael. Jonah clocked out early due to curfew, leaving thirty-minutes before midnight per his parent's request.
Aria stayed behind to help clean up the drinks table, Sade stayed because she's meant to be going home with Aria, and Michael stayed because he doesn't want to pay for the Uber ride back – also he's staying at Aria's as well.
With a black trash bag in hand, filled with empty plastic cups and glass bottles, she ties a knot at the top and carries it towards the bins placed at the side of the house. After those three bottles of water she downed, and her last drink being an hour ago, she's managed to sober up a bit.
Aria opens up the bin, dropping the trash bag into it hearing the potential breaking off glass bottles sound. "Fun night?" Luke's voice appears from behind, causing her to jump and place a hand on her chest at the startle.
Luke has a habit, when he's on the sobering end of intoxication, to get very quiet, and confrontational.
"Huh?" She says, confused as to why Luke is speaking to her, let alone to ask about how her night went. "You do know I'm supposed to be ignoring you, right?" Her goal, and motive to ice out Luke hasn't been running so well lately, but she hasn't wanted to rip out his hair either...
"If it's any consolation, I'm supposed to be ignoring you too." He says, looking at the girl underneath the dim light. "Where's your hat?" He asks, knowing that it must be sitting on the bathroom floor of the granny flat.
"My hat?" She echoes, mind functioning slowly, as she reaches up to her head feeling the absence of her favorite snapback, "Aw man, my hat." Aria mumbles, her intoxicated mind rerouting focus to look for her hat.
"I'm pretty sure it's still in the granny flat," Luke hums, "that's the last time I saw it on you."
"How do you know that?" She asks, "How do you know I went into the granny flat?"
"I saw you," he shrugs, "I saw you, leave with Casper. You forgot that I'm always one step ahead Stanton."
"Weirdo, why are you watching me?" She snorts, taking the interaction lightly due to adrenaline or dopamine rush from the party, and partly, not wanting to ruin her mood for the night. "You're like obsessed with me or something," she comments.
Luke could say the same about Aria. Out of everyone, she probably knows him best. She's aware of every little fact, like what cereal he has in the morning, to all the bad and nervous habits. She knows his guilty pleasures, what he likes, what he doesn't like.
After being friends with the guy then spending more time hating him, she's come to pick up on the little things. She likes to pay attention to detail.
"Well, aren't hatred and obsession the same thing?" He proposes, "With that logic, you're obsessed with me too."
"Maybe obsessed with seeing you fail, but not with you." She retorts, "I can't say the same for you, considering you've been following me. Has your life been so boring that you have to chase me, hoping you'll get in a little argument?"
"Has your life been so boring that you'd actually consider acknowledging and talking to me," he hums. "You've gone soft,"
"I have not gone soft!" Aria defends, "I've just gotten bored of the whole fighting thing and after school detention, after a couple years it starts to lose its, like, passion."
"You're ditching me?!" Luke exclaims, "You've seriously given up on hating me? You're saying that you're bored of our fights? Nah, that's a lie." He rants, "I know you love them, come on, I saw that little look in your eyes when you yelled at me during MUN."
