Nikolai and I had decided to help in the kitchens before Alina and Mal left. There were a lot of soldiers hiding in the tunnels, and it was hard for some of the staff to keep up. Especially now that the kitchen was a small room in the tunnels.

I looked towards Nikolai who was to my right, his sleeves were rolled up and his hair was messy. As well as this, he had a few buttons of his shirt undone, exposing a golden cross around his neck.

"Alright, we need 120g of butter, 120g sugar, 1 egg, 1 tsp vanilla extract, 120g flour for the cupcakes, and 140g butter, 275g sugar, 1-2 tbsp milk. I'll get the stuff for the icing, you get the stuff for the cupcakes." I said to him and he nodded.

We both went to the ingredients cupboard and got the things we need, then brought them all back to our table.

Part way through making the cupcakes, Nikolai decided to throw some of the flour at me. I turned to him, the smirk on his face grew as we had I contact. I slowly picked up some flour and threw it in his smug
face.

"Oh, now you're on!" He picked up a handful of flour and threw it in my scrunched up face stopping my giggles. I blew out the mouthful of flour and coughed as it got stuck in my throat.

"You'll pay for that one, Nik!" I picked up two handfuls of flour and started chasing him around the kitchen.

"Ada, what're you doing!?" Tamar yelled walking into the room with Nadia, who was holding a bag of flour.

"He started it, Tamar, don't blame me!" I pointed to Nikolai, who was hiding behind Nadia.

Nikolai picked up some of their flour and threw it at me.

"Guys stop it!" Nadia scolded us. "You're acting like children. And we only have a few hours left."

I ignored him and threw two more handfuls of flour at Nikolai as he ran away.

He tripped over something, but I didn't notice in time to stop, so I continued running. Which made me trip over him and land on top of him. My hands landed on his chest, once faces inches apart.

His smirk only grew wider. Fuck! Nope nope nope this could not be happening. By then, my face was bright red and I froze, not knowing what to say or do.

"Don't even think about it, you dirty little shit." I finally said, rolling off of him.

I went to stand up, but Nikolai grabbed my arm and pulled me up. We locked eyes and I opened my mouth to thank him, but just moments before any words could have left my mouth, he threw another handful of flour at me.

"NIKOLAI LANTSOV!" I shouted. I had flour in my mouth, eyes, hair, and in my clothes. Saints knew how hard this would be to clean up. But I guess I had to find out sooner rather than later. I ran a hand through my hair and a cloud of flour fell out. "Son of a-"

"Whatch your language!" Tamar warned me.

"Fun..." I decide to take my chance and test her limits.

"You were close." She said but this time squinting her eyes at me.

"..frick" I knew I was playing with fire, but annoying
Tamar was really fun.

"Don't test me." She murmured. She was getting annoyed really fast...

"Oh no... she's going to do it." Nadia moaned disappointedly while slapping her forehead.

"Shoot dang it..." I held in my laughter as much as humanly possible.

"Oh my god." Tamar said, rubbing her face angrily.

"Ass!" I said before quickly covering my mouth.

"Well now you've done it love." Nikolai stated while patting me on the shoulder.

"Haha, you're dead!" It scared me how calm Tamar was. I just stood there staring at her. What the fuck, how was she so calm?

Well, that was until she got up surprisingly fast and started chasing me around the room. I ran as fast as my feet could carry me. But there was no use! I decided that the best move was to hide behind Nadia, since she was wouldn't hurt her. I grabbed her by the shoulders and placed her in front of me.

"That's not fair! You can't use Nadia against me Adelaide!" She moaned.

"Well too bad... loser." I said, sticking my tongue out at her and then once again started running. But this time, she was angrier which only made her faster.

I squealed and started running even faster. But my night in shinning armour extended his arms out towards me. I jumped into Nikolai's arms, wrapping my arms around his neck as he spun us around.

"Ha... I've got you!" He laughed, a mysterious kind of the laugh. I did not like it at all.

"No, Nik, No!" I screamed as he threw me to Tamar. They continued to throw me back and forward for what felt like forever before Nikolai decided it was enough.

The room spun with me as he placed me down, my legs felt wobbly and I felt like I was going to faint.

Everyone laughed, holding their stomachs in pain.

"Fuck you!"

"Now or later?" Nikolai giggled as I slapped his arm.

It felt good to be able to forget about everything and just enjoy ourselves like we were kids again.
