Eustass's pov - 1 day before

"What the fuck do you mean you broke up with her!?" Killer, oddly, yelled at me. I glared at him and turned away, focusing on sharpening the dagger Nior had given me a while ago. "Kid. Don't fucking ignore me. There has to be a reason, what is it?" Killer spun my chair around, I glared at him again.

"Just because you like her best friend doesn't mean I have to give you a God damn reason for what I did, you fucktard." I growled, looking down to continue sharpening the blade.

"Well there's no way in hell you don't love her still."

"I don't love her."

"Oh yeah? And that's why you're sharpening the dagger she gave you."

"Get the fuck out."

"Kid. I don't know what's up with you but know you made a big ass mistake. I have to go tell Lina what happened and hopefully she doesn't try to end your life while you're sleeping."

Ignoring him, I turned back around and waited for him to leave. As soon as I heard the door open then close, I placed my head down onto my desk. I know she won't forgive me, no one will, but it's to keep her safe.

And I'll do anything to keep my pretty girl safe.

Eustass's pov - Present

We're still in this dumb ass hotel near Dressrosa Kingdom, and yet, it feels like Nior is in the room next door. Waiting for me to open it and save her from all of this bullshit. Like some dollar store prince charming.

I feel like shit.

"Boss! Your den-den is calling!" I heard Wire yell and run into my room with the said device in his hand.

I nodded my head to him and took it, my heart missing a beat when I realized it was Nior's. I gulped down everything I was feeling and answered the call, despite feeling like I shouldn't.

"*sigh* I don't have time for this.. I found someone inside that can help me with the plan. I need you to check her out to see if she's a loyal one or not."

"Fine, sure, great. I'll get it done, what's the name?"

"Marla. I don't know anything else but I need you to make sure she's safe to talk to. Oh, and I need you to make sure Violet is alright to talk to as well. Bege did some of his own research but I don't think everything is true."

"Might as well just make sure everyone's fucking safe for you."

"Kid please don't make this harder than it needs to be."

The sound of her voice when she said that made my heart sink into my chest. I hated what I was doing, I was fucking furious but I had to keep her safe, no matter how much it hurt us. No matter how much it hurts me. So, I gulped down all my feelings and ignored them.

"Fine. Is that it?"

"No."

"Great, bye."

"Kid."

"..What."

"*Sigh* Elite Officers, they're Doflamingo's higher-ups. I need you to find out all that you can about them. Weaknesses, devil fruits, all that shit. Get back to me as soon as you've got the information."
