Chapter 14

Tuesday I didn't talk. Calum was obviously over the whole thing. I wasn't. I closed my locker and like always Luke was behind my locker door.
"Hey." He said instead of having his normal smirk he was frowning hiding his face. I just walked back clenching my books to my chest and walking to first period.

Michael threw a crumpled piece of paper onto my desk. I didn't look away from my paper I was writing on and pushing it onto the floor. I saw him out of the corner of my eye pick it up and he put it back on my desk. He had it unfolding for me to read it.
Are you mad?
It asked. I made it look like I didn't read it and I pushed it to the floor again. The bell rang and I hurried getting my things together. I walked out of class quickly and went to my locker.
"Jennifer!" Ashton yelled me hearing them running to me. "What's wrong?" He asked. I just kept walking to my locker pretending they weren't there.

Lunch I didn't go to the cafeteria. I hid. Then I bumped into someone when I was running down the hall. We both fell and I looked over at him. Luke.
"Sorry." He mumbled. Then he looked up at me. "Jennifer!" He said trying to sound disgusted. We got up and I looked at him closely. "What are you doing?" He asked backing up when I kept coming closer holding my hand out. He backed into a wall and he was trapped. I took my thumb wiping it under his eye. I stopped and looked at my thumb. He had make-up on. I looked at him. I grabbed his wrist and pulled him over to a drinking fountain. Getting my hand wet I wiped away the make-up. He was bruised all over on his face. A nice warm day wearing a black jacket. I pulled his sleeve up seeing more bruises. I looked up at him and he did the same with me.
"S-she locked me in my r-room and-." I covered his mouth and surprised both of us when I hugged him. Then I felt him hug me back. But then he pushed me off making the back of my head hit the wall really hard. I fell to the floor and I saw that Michael, Calum, and Ashton were standing at the end of the hall shocked. Calum ran over to me helping me up. I got up before he could get to me and I ran down the hall crying.
I ran to the girls bathroom and cried.
"Jennifer?" Michael asked outside of the bathroom. "You ok?" He asked and I didn't answer.
"Jen if you don't come out we're coming in." Calum said. I hid in a stall when I heard them walking in.
"Jennifer please." Ashton said. Then Michael started opening each stall. I put my feet up on the toilet seat as he came closer. Then the door flung open.
"Jenny come here." Michael said and I got up backing into the corner of the stall. I then saw a way out. I climbed onto the toilet seat and stepped onto the toilet paper thing climbing onto the stall wall. "What the-. How'd you?" Michael looked up at me confused. I sat up there balancing myself.
"How the hell-?" Ashton looked up at me. Calum went into the stall and I started to carefully and quickly crawl on the doors to the far end. "Damn." Ashton said looking over at me now in a corner. Then I felt someone grab my foot and pull me down catch me. Michael was now holding me bridal style as I struggled to get out of his grasp.
"Stop squirming!" He laughed a little. They walked out of the girls bathroom and Michael put me down and I made a run for it. I ran up the stairs when someone grabbed my wrist making me fall back. I tumbled down the stairs and started to cry even more when I was down the stairs.
"Oh my god Jennifer! I'm so so sorry!" Calum said getting down next to me.
"Just get away from me!" I yelled. "Can't you fuckers take a hint and leave me alone?!" I got up trying not to wince. "Just get the fuck away from me! You're all assholes!" I yelled my hands in fists. I probably looked like a 3 year old pouting. Luke then walked up. "You too!" I pointed to him. He looked at me shocked and confused. Then from my screaming a whole bunch of people came over. Surrounding us. Some asking if I was ok and others asking what happened. "Get away from me!!" I screamed. "All of you go to hell!!" I screamed and I collapsed bawling. A teacher then ran over to me.
"You need to get up." She told me.
"Get away!!" I screamed when she touched my shoulder. "Go to hell!!" I screamed at her.

Later I was at home after getting suspended for a whole week. When school was over there was a knock on my bedroom door. My mom peeked in. She came in and sat next to me on my bed.
"Calum, Ashton, and Michael are here to see you." She said calmly. "Want them to come in or want me to have them leave?" She didn't know what was going on with me, I could tell she was scared though. I just shook my head. "Have them leave?" I shook my head again. "Ok I'll tell them to come in." She got up walking out closing the door behind her. Soon it opened a crack and their heads peeked in. They walked in closing the door. They slowly came over to me looking like if they didn't be careful I would bite their heads off. Soon Calum and Ashton sat on both sides of me.
"What happened back there?" Michael asked as calmly as possible. I shook my head and started to cry again.
"I'm so sorry." I told them.
"It's ok." Calum whispered giving me hug as I cried into his shoulder.
"Why were you hugging Luke?" Michael asked.
"His mom is abusing him!" I yelled.
They all looked at each other shocked.

Late at night I went outside with my bow and arrows. I needed to calm down. I heard a stick break as someone stepped on it and I turned around with an arrow in my bow ready to shoot.
"Luke?"
"Jennifer? What the hell are you doing here?"
"I'm gonna ask you the same question." I said pulling my string back again. He put his hands up in surrender.
"I always come out here at this time. Now you answer my question."
"I'm suspended for a week. I'm...getting some fresh air."
"What was all that screaming at school about? You screamed at me saying I'm an asshole and even your friends."
"Because you are an asshole." I said not loosening my string.
"You would never say it to my face. Why did you do it?"
"I don't know what got into me. I guess I couldn't hold all my anger in. Now don't let it come out on this nice sharp arrow. You'll be dead in seconds."
"You wouldn't kill me." He smirked.
"Don't underestimate me. I'm not afraid to let go of the string."
"Do it then! Go ahead kill me." He said. I hesitated. "Exactly. See you couldn't do-." I let go and the arrow stuck into the tree right behind him. It was touching the top of his head it was so close. "It." He finished frightened looking up at it.
"I missed on purpose." I told him. Then I got another one out and put it in the bow. "This one I'm not going to so be careful about what you say."
"Ok Jennifer you're not Katniss Everdeen."
"Shut up!" I pulled the string back farther. "Just go back home you have school in the morning."
"So? You do to."
"I told you I'm suspended."
"Stupid. I've done so many things worse and you get suspended for yelling at a stupid teacher?"
"Just go home, Luke."
"Fine." He smirked before walking back to his house. I sighed putting my arrow back and walking farther into the forest.
